Nay FTR.

I remain of the opinion that the Senate essentially made Section 2 redundant.

I motion to amend to remove the entirities of Section 2 and Section 3.

It effectively reduces the entire bill back to just clause 1.

That's what I thought. If there's no debate on this by later today I'll open the vote on the amendment.

For such a straightforward original Bill, I'm surprised it's still on the Senate floor. Atlasia needs tell the Palestinians straight. They must learn the folly of their ways in electing Hamas.  That said, the result is as much an indictment on Fatah, who can, indeed, be blamed for their own defeat

Nay.

The Administration already has the authority, as shown in real life, to deny the Palestinian Authority funding until such time as it sees the error of its position.  I don't see the desirability of making such an abosolutist prohibition that will severely hamper the ability of the Government to react nimbly in foreign policy should the need arise.  There were several variants of this bill that I would have voted Aye or Abstained on, but not the one we're voting on.

I'd just like to note that, should the Senate pass this bill in its current form, it is my intention to veto it.

While I don't support foreign aid, this is done by wrong reasons.

Nay

The lack of Executive discretion to be able to negoitiate with the Palestinians towards some equitable agreement between them and the Israelis is hampered by this bill. I am all for laying down the law to potential evil-doers, but this comprimises our ability to pursue what the Senator for the Midwest Region calls a nimble foreign policy.

I would have been quite happy to vote for the passage of the bill after my amendment, but having voted for my amendment, the Senate then voted against it. Rather bizarre if you ask me, but its the hand dealt I suppose.
