District 9

Pretty damn awesome despite some issues with plot holes/major logical leaps. I need to let it sink in a little more though. Also how in the hell could this have been made for only $30 million? Wow.

Also, what plot holes/logic leaps do you mean, Eraserhead? I did notice a few things but I'd like to hear what you have to say.

I'm suprised that movie theaters are still popular when you can download any movie fairly easier on the internet for free.

Well, the picture/sound is much better in theaters. But for comedies or movies where great quality aren't super important, it's certainly not a bad option.

MINOR SPOILERS BELOW

Well, for instance, how did the guy fit in the alien battle suit when he was still mostly human? And how did the aliens make it back the ship without being shot at more? How did they not have people going through the mini-ship 'round the clock after it was taken down? It was just left there.

Just some stuff like that.

The Hard Way, 1991 comedy/action film with Michael J. Fox as an actor who teams up with an NYPD cop, James Woods, much to Woods' disagreement. Funny.

Stone Cold, 2005 made-for-television film with Tom Selleck as a former LAPD Detective turned Paradise, Massachusetts Police Chief tracking down a serial killer. Pretty good.

District 9. Good, but not THAT good. Also most of those trailers were just awful, the only ones I dug were Law Abiding Citizen and Zombieland might be good.

I wonder what would have happened if the prawns had landed over like Stockholm or Reykjavík. Hard to imagine the Scandinavians forcing them into concentration camps.

But I liked it. sort of like Blood Diamond mixed with like Half-Life or F.E.A.R.

Oh yes the trailers were mind numbingly stupid. They were about as bad as the The Hangover trailers.

Luckily I saw The Hangover at an arthouse theater and got good trailers.

Sorority Row...Oh my God.

I can think of possible in-movie explanations for all of those but I do agree that in some ways the writing seemed "sloppy." Another thing that surprised me was that there wasn't some human research presence or anything on the huge flying saucer when it took off. I also wonder how so many alien guns were smuggled down on the surface.

Julie and Julia. It was pretty good actually. They should have done more storyline on Julia Child though, she had an interesting life after the war.

District 9 - I didn't think it was good.  The plot seemed jumpy, and was more concerned with non-stop violence than any real story.

I saw The Ugly Truth at the end of July. It's a pretty good movie.
