Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace

It was okay. I actually liked the movie, but the 3D did nothing for the movie.

I liked Antoine de Caunes' (master of ceremony of Césars, French equivalent of Oscars, taking place tonight) comment about that, introducing something about 3D:

You know that there is an 18th release of Star Wars, the 3D version. The effects are fascinating, you can see the hand of Lucas coming out of the screen and going directly in your pocket.

Ali G Indahouse... pretty horrible but ok as far as bad movies / "low culture" goes.  no comparison to the unscripted tv shows.

Z

Fascinating movie, and surprisingly funny. I found myself wishing it were much longer than it was.

I saw The Help for a second time, and I really enjoyed it, like I did on the first time. It's a pretty great film. I also watched a French movie, Bienvenue a bord for a second time, and despite it being pretty stupid and ridiculous, I still really liked it as a good-nature comedy.

Rag Tag. Netflix's LGBT section continues to be awful. 0/4 so far.

I was going to say the same, but I was afraid of being labelled an anti-pro-homosexual.

I found it interesting that they had The Saint of 9/11 labeled as such on Netflix streaming.  I had the pleasure of meeting Father Mychal Judge on several occasions.  He seemed a really great man and priest.  While I have only seen the very beginning of the documentary, I don't really see how it would warrant an LGBT label.

Love Object (2004). Horrendous, but I enjoyed the downbeat ending.

Most of them aren't very good, so you're forgiven for not thinking they're interesting, but some of them are legitimately very very very good, they're just tough to come across.

Tron: Legacy. Impressive visual design, great soundtrack, mediocre story.

Like any other genre of film, it's 90% crap.

Too Big to Fail.  pretty well done, in these movies I can't help but think the dialogues between the characters as so far removed from what they actually were (mimicking reality would serve to be so esoteric as to alienate 99% of the audience).  it's better than Wall Street II in this regard at least.

Wild Wild West.

I hadn't seen it since I was about four or five. Hilariously cheesy. Probably ruined Steampunk movies forever.

What an abomination of a film.

Yeah, I'll never figure out who thought it was a good idea to put Will Smith alongside Kevin Kline in a steampunk movie. What an odd move. One of the few missteps of Smith's career.

The Iron Lady.

Quite good. Not an engaged film, but that's not a problem.

Russian Ark. Insane. Gloriously, gloriously, gloriously insane, and something else added to that already rather too long list of personal favourites...

Speed, over the weekend on TV.  Great movie.  An excellent example of a movie that's greater than the sum of its parts.

The Stepford Wives

Astonishingly awful. Someone might want to consider explaining the difference between 'suburbs' and 'gated community' to the writers as well.

Both are terrible, though the first one less so.

remake

EDIT: Oh, and A Dangerous Method, which was really in need of more Vigo Mortensen, less Keira Knightley, and maybe a little less history lesson.
