I saw X-Men: First Class on Friday......the best X-Men movie so far (and by far).  The 1st and 2nd films were good but cheesy (the 1st was reallllly cheesy, while the 2nd just a little).  The Last Stand was a mess with just a few good scenes mixed in.  There was nothing good about the Wolverine solo film.  But First Class finally gets it right.

Today I watched Buried.  OMG, how depressing!

THE HANGOVER 2

Decent. Worth a few laughs but no where near the classic that the original one was. Not really anything memorable.

Rosemary's Baby

A good horror/thriller picture from the mind of one of opebo's favorite gentlemen. The ending probably could have had more of a payoff but it might be the kind of thing that grows on me.

It was predictable.

The Wolfman (2010)

Alright, I guess. It had some pretty obvious positives and negatives.

EXIT THROUGH THE GIFT SHOP

Quite interesting. The theories as to whether it is a hoax or not are quite intriguing.

Sanctum -- not much to write home about. Nothing terrible, but nothing particularly great either. Characters make stupid decisions, then die.

Casino Royale. The 2006 version, that is. Pretty good.

Black Snake Moan

It was marketed as a B-movie but it was really more like a quasi-religious inspirational story of sorts. It was alright. It was also about a half hour too long.

X-MEN: FIRST CLASS

I was really into the first half, when it was pretty much just James McAvoy being smooth, Michael Fassbender kicking ass, and Betty Dra...January Jones looking beautiful. Once more and more mutants came in I started to lose interest. Still thoroughly enjoyable and probably the best comic book flick since THE DARK KNIGHT

ROAD TO PERDITION

I've been meaning to see this for awhile and was finally able to catch it on a movie channel. A pretty great film, although the ending was a bit predictable I suppose but that doesn't take anything away from it. Pre-Bond Daniel Craig was thoroughly treacherous and vile; I don't know how he wasn't recognized for his portrayal. I'm exciting to see what Sam Mendes does when he teams up with Craig again for Bond 23.

Win Win

Cool little indie flick. I may have enjoyed it slightly more than some would considering that I used to be an amateur wrestler.

I think "flat" is the perfect way to describe it. It really just dies on the screen.

I knew I probably shouldn't have seen it, but my date got postponed and I was already at the theater...  Hopefully Super 8 will be a better experience tomorrow.

To be honest, it was so unfunny, that the script probably should have been saved and recast for a drama about a party gone awry in Bangkok.  Bradley Cooper was the only actor who fit the material.

Though trailers aren't movies, I would also like to say that The Vow might be one of the worst looking movies I've ever seen.  I know it's a chick flick and I shouldn't expect myself to like it, but it looks worse than that... it looks like a chick flick based on a story of what 6 year old girls imagine 12 year old girls imagine 16 year old girls imagine what love is like.

Channing Tatum is in it. You can figure out the level of quality from that alone.

Well it's basically being sold as a cross between Dear John and The Notebook. Enough said...

Does Rachel McAdams actually like these type of movies? She's in so many of them it feels like she's not just doing it for the money.

Super 8

Old school early 80s popcorn flick.  The setup of the four boys in the middle of this big government conspiracy felt like a South Park episode played straight.  They even broke them into cool kid, jew kid, fat kid, poor kid stereotypes.  Probably the best movie of the year so far, but that says nothing.

It's nothing like South Park plot or commentary wise.  I just happened to notice the boys, father, and town reminded me of South Park.

Yeah, but you haven't seen The Tree of Life yet right?

I will watch Super 8 sometime this week.

The Hangover: Part II - absolutely awful.  It had some funny moments, but as a whole it was terrible.

Tales From the Hood

Basically the blaxploitation version of "Tales from the Crypt". The acting was atrocious but some of the stories were pretty weird and fun.
