I saw Hancock the other night. At first it looked like a movie about a homeless black man with special powers, but it turned into something I still don't understand.

Yes Man. Pretty disposable and if it weren't for Carey the film would be pretty bland. It wasn't bad but it certainly wasn't terribly good either as the plot was very thin. Just don't expect your money's worth if you see it at the theatre.

I'm much more psyched to see Frost/Nixon and Benjamin Button.

I just got back from seeing that tonight. Not bad and I laughed a good bit. I thought the girl that played Allison was pretty nice looking.

Gran Torino was absolutely hilarious. Clint reminds me of myself, and probably what I'll turnout like when I get old.

Just saw it tonight and totally agree.  Amazing.

The credit photos were the best part. I am amazed it kept an R rating after seeing those! LOL

I saw Bruno on Friday night. It was pretty underwhelming and too much penis for my tastes. There were some good laughs, but it wasn't anywhere near the masterpiece that Borat was. It was also really short.

I saw Public Enemies tonight. It was pretty good as well, but the camera angles were strange. I felt dizzy during most of the film. The ending was very well done, and Bale put in another good performance as Batman dressed in a different outfit.

Paranormal Activity

It was only scary if you lacked logic and critical thinking skills. A friend and I went to see it in Georgetown this weekend, and literally half the theater was jumping in fear at what was going on. I thought GU students were a little smarter than that. Nothing that happened in the film could not be done with computer enhancements. It was only "good" if you went in thinking it was real. Even then, the only time I jumped was at the ending when the body of Micah was hurled at the camera.

I saw Green Zone tonight. I will say that some of the scenes were well done, and I enjoyed feeling like I was in the battle, but I strongly disagreed with the message what it was trying to portray - especially when a group in my theater cheered when the Iraqi's shot down one of the US helicopters. It was simply another cookie cutter blame Bush film with the premise that there was one man responsible for starting the whole war, who met with Saddam's top general - who claimed they had no WMDs - and flipped it around, told Bush, and we went to war. The plot was predictable, the characters were not likable, unless you fell for the sob story Greengrass was trying to run with in which you felt sorry for Iraq's top general who was losing his job. I just can't support films that cause people to cheer when one of America's soldiers get shot out of the sky. That's the end of my rant.

There was cheering in my theater too when the special ops guy got killed right after Matt Damon tackled him. That guy certainly deserved it though.

That's fine. He was a dick. We had people who also gasped and whimpered when Al Rawi was killed. Whether you agree with the war or not, the man presided over the mass slaughtering of his own people. Good riddance. But the movie was written to make both Damon and Al Rawi's character to be guys you feel sorry for. At least that's the feeling I and my friend got.

Green Lantern

If they would have spent more time on the climax and resolution, perhaps 20 minutes longer, this would have been fantastic. As is, it's just OK.

That's what she said.

I last saw Super 8. It was a nice throwback to the 90s. I went in thinking it was about a Super 8 motel.

Transformers. It was better than the second installment, but that's like saying a cavity filling is better than a root canal.

Human Centipede.

You know, a friend of mine and I thought it would be interesting to watch because Southpark spoofed it, but I can honestly say it was the biggest mistake I have made in my entire 22 years of life. And I hear the sequel is 100x worse.

The Lion King, obviously. I can't believe it's been 17 years since I last saw it in theaters.

Me too! It started off kind of slow but got more hilarious as it went along. I'm glad I'm not alone.

I wonder if Lief has watched it yet?

I would hope so. A friend of mine paid the $10 to watch it, but I have since found it for free elsewhere...it got better as it went along
