Legal, it will give a healthy boost to GDP.

Lower welfare rates as well.

angus, have you ever frequented prostitutes?

well I have never knowingly slept with a prostitute.  Just a hangup I have I suppose, like some guys won't sleep with black chicks or some guys won't sleep with homosexual men.  I find prostitution to be a bit creepy.  I got nothing against good old-fashioned girls who sleep with charming strangers though.  Nice girls who you meet in bars and take 'em home and they screw you and make breakfast for you.  But I don't sleep with prostitutes.  I used to claim it offended my socialist sensibilities, as I used to be a raging leftist for most of my adult life, but in recent years I've gone centrist, and generally score around zero (right in the middle) on the Left/Right scale of those silly tests, and in general I have come to realize that capitalism is a fine system, so I can't really make that claim any more.  Still, I don't want to sleep with chicks who capitalize on their pussies.

Nevertheless, I know some prostitutes.  They're nice people.  I gave one a long ride once, and she shared her drugs with me.  She was a nice girl.  I thought about moralizing to her, saying she should get an education or something, but decided just to listen to her instead.  An interesting story she told.  I have nothing against others who visit prostitutes, and have many acquaintances who have taken comfort with the prostitutes.  I certainly don't feel it should be illegal.  In fact, properly taxed it can be a source of government revenue.  The world's oldest profession and all.  Also, if we bring it out of the dark and into the sphere of legitimate business, some effort can be made to help stop the spread of infectious diseases such as herpes, chlamydia, and the virus that causes AIDS.

AIDS isn't caused by a virus. It is a conspiracy of pharmaceutical big business.[/bandit]
