I don't know a lot about Arroyo, but I get the impression she is right-leaning, and somewhat socially conservative, though not very secure or powerful (so the sex industry has not been much effected by her). 

On one of my three (I think I've been there three times) visits to Manila and Angeles City, I remember there being some political troubles with rebellions army factions, but it did not effect my departure for Bangkok.

Anyway, good riddance if she goes down, but I dread change in these countries, as you never know if the next one will be the moralizer.
