You know technically, once in you don't have to do it all. And if you do, traditionally its only been at the beginning of your term not in the middle, since you are an At-large Senator. You must just love taking the oath, or something.

Not really. The law has been used in the past to make swearing in for another office the simultaneous resignation for any other that a person may currently hold.

Unless there's been a rule change, you shouldn't have to.
Otherwise huge swathes of previous Senates' work can be thrown out as invalid as many of the Senators didn't re-swear in.

Indeed that is correct. But it has been custom for the most part, for the reelected senators to post a swearing in. I could have sworn Duke did it the last two times, but I might be mistaken in that regard.
