Truman would probably be a Democrat, but people like you would be calling him a DINO (like with Lieberman).

Well...some of the reasoning from BRTD here is pretty bad, to be honest. But anyway, that's what happens when you want to be a commie rebel. I had a friend like that who was a nice, intellectual guy. Now he's a druggist who does bisexual orgies. Devolution is inevitable if one has fundamentally wrong ideals for one's personal life.

I've said many a time that I think the Un-American Activities Committee in the House of Representatives was the most un-American thing in America!
-Harry S. Truman

Richard Nixon is a no good, lying bastard. He can lie out of both sides of his mouth at the same time, and if he ever caught himself telling the truth, he'd lie just to keep his hand in.
-Harry S. Truman

The buck stops here!
-Harry S. Truman

Anyway I think the idea of Truman as a Republican is as silly as FDR or Huey Long would be a GOPer today...

Truman was, I believe, very partisan. He is the kind of guy who disliked Republicans by principle.

The idea of Truman as a Republican today is simply preposterous.  I really can't see how anyone would think that.

If Truman were a Republican today, so would be people like Jim Webb, Brad Ellsworth, and myself.

While there are historical Democrats such as Grover Cleveland who I think would certainly be Republicans today, and others such as Andrew Jackson, William Jennings Bryan, Woodrow Wilson, and John Fitzgerald Kennedy for whom such a change of party would be plausible tho noy certain, Truman would certainly be a Democrat.
