I've heard a bit about Wahabbi-ists trying to influence the Comoros into following their form of Islam-scholarships, paying for medical operations, etc.

I'm not sure if it's a Saudi government thing or individuals; anyone know about it?

I didn't even know that this was a country until we had an African map quiz in my comparative politics class about three weeks ago so no comment.

Saudi government has the capital to do it, obviously.

It's not like that's very expensive.

It becomes an expensive project once its designed for lots of countries ranging from Indonesia to Morrocco to France to the US.

Well, I believe it is.

I know funds come from Saudi Arabia to Pakistan for this purpose.

Comoros are famous for a coup attemp by some French et.al. mercenaries inspired by "Dogs of War" by Frederick Forsyth. Only problem was the French legionares at nextdoor Mayotte Island Wink

Had a rather spectacular meltdown a few years back where the three main islands almost parted ways; now functioning mostly as a confederation with the odd bouts of political instability on one island or another.
