Surprised Temple University isn't at least mentioned.  That school has sickeningly liberal college professors even for me.  My friend is in their law school and only one of 3 pro-lifers in a class of 55.

I have to admit that I was on the look-out for Temple here, too. I'll have so much fun there.  Smiley

I'm surprised that Evergreen College in Olympia didn't make this list.  Bush placed fourth there this year, behind Nader, Badnarik, and two socialists.

My thoughts exactly. It may be the most liberal college on the West Coast.

The University of Montana is notable, too. In 2000, Nader won four precincts (and not tiny ones) in Missoula, and they were probably the University.

BUMP

Out of curiosity, has anyone on this forum (or anyone you know) chosen any of these colleges?

UC Santa Cruz should definetely be there.  The college is really into Che Guevara and Gay Rights, moreso than any place I've been.  In addition, the college culture down there, from my glance at it, seemed really liberal and hippie-like in general, with particularly strong emphasis on drugs like salvia, LSD, marijuana, and alcohol.  It's just kind of crazy down there.

Berkeley is not one of the ten most liberal schools though.

My sister will be attending Bard. It sounds like a neat place. Can anyone look up its precinct results?

I've heard of some of these colleges for the sole reason that they've sent me brochures via the ACT or PSAT.

I'm going to check out some of the results for these colleges later (provided they are in areas where I can get the precinct data)

The list was primarily private schools, one public one I came across  SUNY Purchase

2000
Gore 60.47%
Nader 31.83%
Bush 7.34%

2004
Kerry 90.27%
bush 5.54%
Nadser 2.99%

I've seen much higher at colleges.  Some University of Montana precincts gave Nader pluralities.  He almost won a majority (although didn't get a plurality - that's how bad Bush did) at Evergreen State University.

The precinct containing Pepperdine actually voted Kerry (Malibu Heights - 4060003A), 51%-47%.

Republican there, though.  The Tallwood precinct voted 59%-40% Bush.

Not sure how much of those two precincts are student, though.

I would imagine not very; if Regent University itself didn't vote more for Peroutka than for Kerry, I'd be astonished, and I can't see Pepperdine University going more than 30% Kerry.

I reside in the vicinity of Wheaton College, and quite a few people I know attend or will attend there. I think I would rather attend Liberty University than Wheaton College, to be honest. For example, student dancing was banned there until a few years ago (2003, maybe?)

Speaking from experience (I live about a mile or so away from Evergreen), Evergreen ( the students are"Greeners") is a VERY Liberal/socialist place. It attracts alot of college kids from the east coast who are looking for the most hippie/commune-like college possible. That being said ti is still a very good college, just VERY liberal. (lots of marxism fans there) It doesn't even have majors, just "areas of study", you get to basically make your own degree. Smiley

Well.. That's 9 extra places I put onto my list of colleges to a postgrad in.. (I was already thinking about  Reed for various reasons.. though I'm assuming all of these places offer a (post)graduate course in the humanities? Drat, at my lack of knowledge in the US university system..)
