Senators, please feel free to discuss ideas for election reform here.  I'll be posting some of my own soon.

I'll just say that I'll take Peter's big amendment to Gabu's big original bill. No parliment or stuff like that.

For those interested, my proposal can be found here. Until it goes to vote I am happy to discuss anything and makes changes where needed. If we decide we want to retain IRV rather than move to FPTP with runoff, this can be done relatively easily.

FPTP with a runoff is much preferred to IRV, in the opinion of this Senator. Smiley

I want STV proportional elections!
The current gridlock in the redistricting discussion makes this a good time to bring it up again...

I'm not even sure we can get parliamentary elections, Lewis, so the odds of this are...iffy. Smiley

This has probably been discussed before, but why?

It's unrelated to the prime minister idea.

Well, the fact that your vote can end up hurting your preferred candidate and helping a candidate you don't like springs to mind. Also, I like having a runoff to determine how voters really feel about candidates. Smiley

Yes, but I'm using it as a barometer of "willingness to change the electoral system" in Atlasia Smiley
