They dollarized their economy a few years ago, and it's been pretty good; the old sucre wasn't worth the paper it was printed on and was really inflationary. I have an old one-sucre coin somewhere... but sucre were something like 5,000 to the dollar in the end...

One of the wierd things about Ecuador's dollarized economy is that when they switched over they decided to use the dollar coin instead of the dollar bill.
