I usually answer this with "Nevada" and make a remark about an empty triangle with a toilet in the bottom corner.

Al, I am extremely appalled at this description.

Anyone can see that it more closely resembles a trapezoid.

What kind of wine was it?  I didn't think Connecticut was renowned for its wine, to put it mildly, though I have visited a vineyard in the Litchfield area.

I don't hate any state, but for me, the ones I would like least are states like Alabama and Mississippi--hot, boring, and Republican.

That's tough, I never been to a state I didn't like. But while I was in college I did get into a fight in Utah. So I was never fond of the place.

I cannot say, given limited experience. Maryland would probably rank fairly low, given the socialist infestation of the entire central regions, the heavy traffic (worsened by an eco-fanatic infestation) and the general slumminess of the Baltimore area. New Jersey's also pretty nasty, at least in the north of the state (especially Newark). My brief drive-through of Illinois didn't endear me much to that state, either.

I can complain about every state I've been in. Pennsylvania's got lousy roads and Philly's pretty seemy in places. Virginia is beginning to suffer from the same infestations Maryland is. West Virginia - at least the little corner I've been in - is nicer than its reputation, but things are indeed less green there than its neighbors. South Dakota's entire eastern half is boring. Florida is too damn hot and muggy, nobody speaks English in Miami anymore, gas is real pricey, the traffic is terrible, and Hurricanes buzz around like flies. Georgia's like that minus the Miami bit and with cheaper gas, and with even more stinking mosquito-infested bogs. There isn't a good classical music station anywhere in South Carolina, or half of North Carolina either (I believe one of the universities in the Raliegh area has a station) - the only things you can get on the radio are hip-hop/R&B, country, gospel, sports, talk (a mixture of local stuff and your nationally syndicated right-wing talking heads), National Pravda Radio, and in some places oldies.

Several months ago, I was travelling through Alabama with several friends. When we finally crossed the state line into Mississippi, even the grass seemed greener.
Amen...even the roads suck in Alabama, which is much inferior to MS.

but the worst state, I suppose is TX, because most Texans are way too proud and haughty about their state without reason to be.

Indiana.

I hate their roads and highways, Indianapolis sucks, the fans of IU basketball are obnoxious, and Gary.

Texas, of course. can you believe that Texas had only 1 natural lake (on the border with Lousiana, not even completely in Texas) until it was artificially dammed.

I was torn between Nebraska (the flatness would drive me insane, plus when I was in elementary school I had to do a project on it.... its history isnt very exiting), the other two are Mississippi and Alabama, and I choose Mississippi simply because of how amazingly conservative they are

Blaine County, or somewhere else?

Because if not Blaine County, then that person has my condolences. Tongue

I voted NJ, but I don't really hate any states.
I thought I hated Mass. until I went there this Summer, so I can't really hate any states. Texas is too diverse to hate, Mississippi also has an interesting culture, Alabama doesn't seem that horrible, and Oklahoma has a good musical.

I'm sure the Southwestern part of the state is festering with them.

I loved re-reading this thread. Utah County is evil Cheesy

Utah is the worst, followed by Texas (minus Austin), Alabama and Oklahoma

Not really. There's two counties with large Mormon populations but they have very few people, even by Wyoming standards.
