So if the next vote on the final passage?

We're going to try and do something about an interim period in place before we pass this.

So does anybody actually know how to write this amendment?

Over 36 hours have passed without debate. The Senate rules are quite clear that any bill this far into its legislative process should be brought to a final vote if debate ceases for 24 hours or more.

I'm willing to bend the rules and leave another 24 hours for a Senator to come forward with provisions, but after that I will have to insist that we follow our rules.

So insisted.

Under Article 4, Section 1, Clause 2 of our Rules:

If debate on the legislation under consideration has halted for longer than twenty-four (24) hours and the amount of debate time that the legislation has been given exceeds seventy-two (72) hours, any senator may call for a vote on said legislation.

I do call for a vote on this legislation.

Nay, besides this being a horrible change to the system there is no interim period (though I don't care for the point that Peter's trying to make and not writing it when he knows that we don't know how) and Ebowed will be out right away if this passes the regions.

Nay.

I am not required to help the Senate out with every pet project it might want to engage in and I do have several other pressures on my time. The suggestion from the PPT that it was effectively incumbent upon me to write the transitional provisions for the supporters of this legislation is frankly expecting too much of me.

Nay.  Though I personally support this amendment, the majority of Midwesterners do not.  As it is my duty to represent their views, not mine, I cast this vote for them.

While I find that a very admirable thing to do, I would like to say that as an amendment, the Midwest will have a chance to express their views when it goes to through the ratification process, so you could vote how you wanted, and they'd still have the ultimate say in the matter Smiley

Also, I apologize for not taking part in the later part of this debate, I’ve been really busy at home Undecided  But, could someone tell me what this is about a provisional Government?  Are you just talking about having a clause or something that says that this amendment won’t take effect until the next regular election after the people have ratified it, or something else?

Anyway, I’m going to vote Aye for now, but if there is something significantly wrong with this bill, I’ll change my vote.

I urge the Senate to reject this amendment.  It will horribly eliminate seperation of powers and increase the strength of the imperial senate.  First they claim their right to declare Presidential elections back in October, now they want to just do away with the position altogether and have absolute power.  I'm deeply disturbed.

1 Aye and 4 Nays. Is that enough for this Amendment to be considered dead?

After much consideration, I've decided to vote Nay. Although I personally believe it would be interesting and would reinvigorate Atlasia, the lack of an interim period would make transition near impossible.

I have consulted fair and wide on this Amendment, both of the polls commissioned by me for District 4, and by Senator Yates for Atlasia at large, showed that a majority of District 4 voters are against this Amendment

Nevertheless, I decided to personally contact all D4 voters - given its importance - and the responses I received were evenly split. Given the lack of support, and the lack of opposition, for that matter, I, reluctantly, Abstain on this Amendment citing no mandate for or against

I'm glad to see the "Amendment to Destroy Atlasia" has been all but defeated.

The spirit of the founding fathers lives on!

--------

Now, I'm going to the request the government go Vlad Lenin style with me and constuct a massive statue in every major Atlasia city of my likeness.

This amendment has enough votes to fail. Senators now have 24 hours to change their votes.

Abstain, as the current form of the bill will cause too many problems. I do support a move to a Parliamentary system but this bill needs more work.
