This is one RARE case I'd vote Brown, but no one farther to the right.  I gamble on a 3rd party in that case.

Percentages might be off a bit but a clear Brown landslide especially if there wasn't a more conservative third party candidate to run strong in the south. For those that disagree try to remember that McKinney is a far left wing loon (even Flyers dislikes her) while Melissa Brown is a more center-right Republican.

I think MA and RI would be close but go with McKinney while DC would break 90% for McKinney.

I think he's kidding.  I do think people like her kill the Democratic party and tempt a lot of working class, union white Dems to vote Republican.  Of course, amongst white Democrats turned Republicans there's some people who were just as bad in racial assininity (Strom Thurmond, Frank Rizzo Sr.) and I'll also make no bones about admitting that.  The 1987 Philadelphia Mayoral Election would be one of the hardest for me to vote for and would very likely write-in Bill Green or Dave Cohen if I were old enough to vote.  Unfortunately a lot of my relatives still extol that glorified thug Frank Rizzo.

My point is we need to iron out racial extremities in politics or what will happen is you will end up with with God awful elections like the 1987 Philly Mayoral where virtually all blacks and a small handful of hardcore union whites voted fro Wilson Goode and the majority of whites voted from Frank Rizzo just because.  Both were awful candidates and racially polarizing.

Did you catch him in my signature yesterday? I knew you'd love that. I took him out for the weekend for Berlusconi but he'll be back sometime.  Wink

It was basically all blacks for Goode and all whites for Rizzo. 2003 was a bad election here but nothing beats 1987.

Glad you agree with me on 1987 and no I did not see Rizzo in your signature.  I clearly think Katz is better than Rizzo in terms of being less polarizing though even Katz was a Dem turned GOP.  You and I both know Katz was much more liberal than Rizzo Sr. though hence that's why I felt at least lukewarm about voting for him.  I felt like the city needed some balance and one party rule is never a good thing.

The 2007 Mayoral Election will be ever so interesting!

I think you misunderstood where I stand on the '87 election. I would gladly support Rizzo, Sr. What I was getting at was in terms of how bitter the election was (just like '03). I wasn't suggesting that all of the candidates were bad.

Yes, it will. And won't that be something if Doc switches to the GOP (don't think it will happen though)? If he does and somehow wins the primary, I won't be voting Republican in my first Mayoral election.

I don't care a lick about Cynthia McKinney.  I said what I said for two reasons:

1) Everybody hates her, so I feel morally obligated to stand up for her
2) To get people riled up

Well, good for you there.  You do realize people like her KILL the Democratic party and its core ideals.  People like her allow the rise of politicians like Frank Rizzo Sr. and Ronald Reagan who advocate brutal and/or very anti-working class policies and the latter will vote for such people just because they're white or say things like "welfare queens" to rile up working class whites to vote against their own best interests.  When it comes to elections, people buy into the media hype rather than think rationally, but often times you have 2 bad candidates.

I'll also add I think black politicians such as Barack Obama and Harold Ford provide a good model for how one should act.  This race-hustling bullsh**t kills us as a society and I blame both whites and blacks for this.

I actually have a definite negative opinion about him, so I won't.  I'd consider somebody like Nikita Khrushchev however.

I might even vote Hillary over McKinney, though that may be pushing it.

Why do the people in Georgia keep electing her?

Why do the people in Georgia keep electing her?

Well, it's the people of her district, not Georgia as a whole obviously. They did vote her out in the 2002 primary in favor of Majette but when Majette decided to foolishly run for Senate in 2004, McKinney was able to come back.
