If Columbus Day is useless, why not abolish all federal holidays while we're at it?

I see you've missed the point.

I am in favour of making our National "holidays" Atlasia-centric. Given that we have created three Atlasian holidays, I think its correct that we start abolishing the American holidays, especially the ones that don't actually make sense.

So I can expect you to propose a bill to abolish Martin Luther King day, no?

I have already introduced a bill to do so a week or two ago.

But Atlasia is on North America in the place of the United States.  Presumably, someone would have had to discover North America as it happened in the real world, unless our timeline is somehow radically different from reality in a way that I'm unaware.  I don't see why we can't keep that person as Christopher Columbus.  Europe exists in exactly the same form here as it does in the real world.

Another thing is why celebrate someone who wasn't even here first? Why not the Vikings or the Phonecians(sp?) or more likely the Chinese were here first. Why not celebrate them for making it here first?

Because they didn't make the trip that would enable people to set up the colonies that would lead to Europeans migrating en masse to the New World.

Columbus wasn't the great man people think he was. He didn't even land on any Atlasian territory.

I wasn't aware that Puerto Rico wasn't Atlasian anymore.  Did it gain its independence while I wasn't looking?

Atlasia=The United States.  In fact, I would rather we stop with this "atlasia" nonsense anyway and just call us America, for heaven's sake.  I just don't see the point.  We are a government sim based off of the United States of America, not a micronation.

Dave Day (and Constitution Day) were established by the Atlasian National Holiday Act already. We subsequently established the Forgotten Atlasians Holiday.

All these holidays are Atlasia-centric, so I fully support them, however, we have not removed holidays as we have added them, and therefore I support knocking off holidays such as this first.
