Look at how the different Italian regions voted as a rough guide.

Judging from the issues alone, Berlusconi would probably win in the United States.

However, being the crook he is, I doubt he could actually get elected somewhere aside from Italy and some Third world banana republics. His numerous scandals would definitely kill him.

So, Prodi/Prodi. But perhaps I'm overtly optimistic about the American voters. Cheesy

Actually, I don't think I'll attempt one at all.  Tongue  This would be a very complex race.

I'd probably vote third-party.

For some reason I don't think Berlusconi would play well with the religious right... Smiley

Bingo. Seen in 1963-94 Italian politics terms, Berlusconi is actually a Socialist. (Which just goes to show how very right of center the now defunct Socialists were on many issues, I suppose.) He was a great donor of Craxi's, too.
In fact, comparing Italian election results now with those of the 80s, you're struck by the scope of the realignment. The old PSI and PSDI stronghold of Lombardy is now the most solidly right-wing region, while the Southern haunts of the DC's moderate wing have largely followed its politicos into alliance with the Postcommunists.
The Center, of course, remains Communist as ever - and the Northeast Conservative and Catholic.
