Very true!  Though as a generalization I would say that privatization has been excessive in most countries - as in there are many cases where the privatization has been detrimental to the commoners.  On the other hand, privatization's main purpose is to create an opportunity to hugely enrich the wealth and politically well connected, so from the perspective of this class privatization is an unmitigated good.

He's talking about the utilities.  I agree that utilities should have at least SOME regulation, otherwise we'd be facing even more Enron-style problems that California had to deal with in 2002.

Privatizing is all the rage, but it only leads to trouble down the road. After the companies make money from privatization, they are unable to deliver services. Then the government has to bale them out, which is wasted money thats only spent because Americans are so frightened of the government running anything other than the post offices.

I'm assuming your talking federal level here. I definitely support a smaller federal government, and many branches of the federal government don't really need to be branches of the federal government. I'm thinking FDA, Transportation, those sorts of things.

Some of these things can be dealt with better on a state level, while it would make a great deal of sense to privatize others.
