The primary is today, and this will narrow the field down to just two candidates from 21. The top three candidates fighting to get into the run-off are incumbent Mayor Ray Nagin, Louisiana Lieutenant Governor Mitch Landrieu, and CEO Ron Forman. All three candidates are Democrats.

The fact that you're supporting that trash is disgusting. You must really hate the people of New Orleans.

This is why I'm glad I live in Jefferson Parish.  I don't have to choose between these chaps.

The precincts reporting in now are mostly black and went against Nagin in 2002. This time around, Nagin is doing much better in those precincts and the threat of Tom Watson and Mitch Landrieu to siphon off black votes is apparently not materializing right now. Nagin is back in the lead with Landrieu coming in second with eight precincts reporting.

Still no absentees, but my guess is that it's pretty much over.

Nagin v. Landrieu in the runoff.

New Orleans has a runoff between a machine politician (Mitch Landrieu) and a race baiting incompetent (Ray Nagin).  Gee, I can't imagine why things got so bad down there.

How true.  How true.  Texans who make fun of Louisiana politics have been continually proven right again and again this past year.  I'm not saying Texas politics is that much better, but the wholesale corruption of Louisiana is really only matched by New Jersey nowadays.

The interesting thing is seeing where Forman's (who switched from GOP to Dem last year) and Couhig's votes go.  They're liable to decide the election.  And I really fail to see where they're going at this point in time.
