If Nagin gets elected again can we blow the levees and finish the city off?

Knowing Nagin, he's bus everybody into the Ninth Ward, if you'd try.

Nagin is NOLA's third disaster.

Any polling company that can get 86% of respondents to understand what they are saying while underwater deserves a lot of respect.

Last I knew Tulane was under water.

I saw their graduation ceremony on television, and no one was wearing a wetsuit.

Ive been to New Orleans twice. And while I despise their government and the corruption that goes on their, I think New Orleans should rebuild. New Orleans is a unique, diverse community with GREAT FOOD and a lot of history. We need a lot stronger levees though and a comprhensive evac. plan.

I may end up being completely wrong, but this is what I've thought the whole time:
Nagin          54%
Landrieu     46%

Not too late for a prediction I hope:

Landrieu 52.5%; Nagin 47.5%. I think Forman's endorsement of Landrieu helps him more than Couhig's endorsement of Nagin

Democrats should remember than Nagin was a Republican until he opportunistically Sad became a Democrat just so he could run for mayor (of course, please correct me if I'm mistaken); while the Landrieu family have served New Orleans and Lousiana well

Landrieu: 51.296%
Nagin: 52.6%

Election is thrown out due to fraud.  Each side declares the other fraudulent.  Landrieu declares victory as well as Nagin.  Nagin assasinated during accpetance speech.  Angry Nagin supporters kidnap Senator Mary Landrieu and New Orleans starts a civil war.  Meanwhile an angry hurricans blows away and washes away the city once and for all.

THE END

Mitch Landrieu: ~54%

Ray Nagin: ~46%
----------------------------------

I may be being overly optimistic here, but I am wagering that more people are going to be looking for a chance to pay Nagin back for his incompetence in dealing with Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath, and looking for a new direction, coupled with the prediction that there will be a heavy-enough turnout for Landrieu from white and moderate voters that it will push him over the edge.

I have a hard time seeing Nagin win, but at the same time, it is impossible to underestimate people in the wake of identity politics.  I expect it to be close, in any case.
