No smart, not smart at all.

And 5 days?  More like expulsion (at least where I come from).

If I were you, I would be formulating a kick ass story for having the alcohol in your possession.

Why the Hell would you bring alcohol to school?  Unless you're in college, this is pretty damn serious.

And, if you're underage, it's possible for a criminal charge as well.  "F'ed up" is right.

Maybe you should consider medical help.

Boss Tweed, do you think you're developing a problem with alcohol?

Honestly, I think you've been looking to get into trouble because you are seeking the attention of somebody, most likely your dad, or maybe both your parents.

Maybe you can talk to a counselor about the issue.

One question - why?

Whatever f'ed up reason it is, be honest with your parents and ask them for help - whether it be alcoholism (aa, ala-teen), or a tendency to follow the crowd (psychologist - make sure it's a licenced one), or something else - and get help.

The consequences get steadily worse as you get older (bringing booze to work tends to be a firable offence, and DUI's are taken very seriously), so it's best to deal with whatever the problem is now and get some sort of help for this while you still have a good support network.

Try to pass it off on someone else. Lying like a sonofabitch is the only decent way out of this one and if you have a decent school record, it might lessen the penalty a bit.

Sorry to hear about that, man. I hope all turns out ok for you.

As many of the others have said, I would say that seeking help from the school counselor or some other figure that you trust is the best way to go.

Nobody can help you but yourself, and how can you be stupid enough to even bring that to school?

I guess I'll be the sympathetic voice, since people are too busy being jerks (excluding Daz).  I feel for you Tweed; I'm sorry that you got caught.  Good luck.

Nym90 isn't being a jerk either, ian.

Tweed needs to talk to somebody about what is bothering him.  He's been courting trouble on this issue for a long time, pushing the envelope further and further.  Most kids seek trouble in one way or another; I know I did.  So it's not that hard to understand.  Depending on how he and his parents handle it, this whole incident can be a normal part of growing pains, or it can be a harbinger of future problems.  Hopefully the former.

Nope, but a couple friends got busted and were able to lie themselves down to a five day suspension for possession earlier this year.

I never brought alcohol to school, though I was a regular drinker my last 2 years of high school.  I drank on weekends, and sometimes after school (especially, for some reason, if I had to stay after).

What lie did they tell to get a 5-day suspension?  What would they have faced if they hadn't lied?

I hope he gets into enough trouble so that the issues that are bothering him get the attention they need, both from him as well as from his parents.

Not smart Tweed.  Even I knew to keep it off college classrooms.  Hell, I only went to class hungover a few times and I was much older.  My HS, you would have been thrown out in a heartbeat.  What type of school is it anyway?

Gee, that's dumb.

There are sometimes reasons for bringing such things to school. I once brought a pocketknife with me to a Cub Scout meeting at an elementary school. It wasn't during school hours, though, and my rationale was wanting to learn how to use it to get the appropriate Chit. (That was a long time ago). No trouble, just got teased by some of the other scouts.

Alcohol, though? Presuming you mean the kind you drink (and not rubbing), why the hell would you bring it to school? I can see better justification for bringing a sword (fencing practice Tongue).

Still, sometimes schools crack down on the wrong thing - it's as if the threat of international terrorism inspired laws banning air travel. That's how it is with weapons (UMBC bans anything but kitchen knives from the campus, save for fencing swords that are kept under lock and key. At high school, even a butter knife would get you in trouble...).

If you are trying to get yourself into even more trouble than you already are for the sheer thrill of it, you should also try selling marijuana on school grounds.  It will make your current punishment a mere slap-on-the-wrists in comparison.

I know I was being a bit of an asshole earlier, but you deserved that bit of realism.

Anyway, my suggestion is to listen to dazzleman.

You don't want to become like the girl I knew in college who filled up her Gatorade bottle with vodka when she attended voice classes.

Are you speaking from experience?

I used to love getting in trouble, but only for minor stuff.  I still haven't totally outgrown it.
