I was gonna say that.  I can understand a little alchie in the park or a playground every once in a while on a weekend hell I know I did it.  In school or even on a school night is completely bonheaded and stupid.  I wish Tweed gets punished even further for his own good.

Frankly, I don't think 5 days suspension is much of a punishment.  How his parents handle it is much more important than what the school does.

I agree that Tweed doesn't really want to take his punishment over this; who would?  But I think that he knows he has some issues that need to be addressed, and part of the reason he did this was to get the adults in his life to address those issues.  I hope they do.

This is not a terrible crime he committed, so I don't think he needs to feel great guilt over this.  But he's on a destructive path of seeking out serious trouble, and I hope he gets the help he needs.

It's not so much the action, but the reason for why it was done.  Rational 15-year-olds concerned about their well-being don't knowingly carry a 20 oz bottle of vodka to high school.  There are numerous reasons for why someone might do this, and considering the fact that it's quite easy to just wait until school gets out, none of the reasons are particularly good news.

To answer some questions...

I had about 20oz of vodka on me and I was intoxication.  The formal charges are "possession of an illegal substance on school grounds" and "intoxication on school grounds".

The suspension is 5 days, plus a superintendant's hearing on Friday to decide if the suspension should be longer.  (But I doubt it will be extended, as I have no prior record.)

What has been your parents' reaction so far?

Obviously not a big one as he's still on the internet.

Although I don't think I ever brought alcohol into the school on an ordinary school day. (Ah, but I remember the one time when we'd been out partying all night, hadn't had any sleep, and Dennis and me got stoned half an hour before school began. Of course, I was a tad older than Tweed is now, I think. Must have been 17 at the time.)

a) I have about four inches on him, I could take him in a second
b) he wouldn't be all that upset

There are other reasons, but I won't post them of course.

And also, we don't really beat children up north.  at least it isn't commonplace.

I don't have an allowance.  But if I ask for money I invariably will get it; although I hardly ever ask.  It's a simple situation, actually.

Tweed, you made a bad decision or more precisely did not think out your actions.  You have to be careful because bad decisions tend to lead into bigger mistakes.  Most jailbirds didn't start out with the big crimes.  You commited a minor indiscretion; just be careful and think a couple of moves ahead next time.  You should also know that early social drinking can devolve into a problem several years down the line.  Drinking is fun because it frees you of your inhibitions and temporarily takes away your problems.  However, the inhibitions and problems tend to multiply the next day.  I'll stop blabbing now- If you need anything, ask. 

Btw, Lets Go Mets. David Wright's defense made me want to drink that 20 ounces of vodka:)

Tweed was this like a school dance or the prom or something, or just a random school day? I can understand to some extent if it was a prom or something, its still a really stupid decision to make, but a regular school day? That's called being an Alcoholic.

Right there is screaming that it is a problem. I don't know whether to be concerned about your father seemingly not caring or you not wanting anything to do with your father. I know if I had done something showing such a lack of judgement that you did I damn sure wouldn't be logged on to an internet forum and I wouldn't have access to the outside world for a LONG time.
