Economic issues:

A plurality of Israelis though US economic policies made their country richer, but in pretty much every other country the view was that they made their country poorer. A very large amount of French respondants thought it had no effect. 58% of Americans said their economic policies made the rest of the world richer (huh?).

60% of Americans believe other countries want to copy their economic policies, but no other country agreed. Israel, Brazil and Korea were the closest, however; the UK, France and especially Australia the least likely to agree.

A majority of French and Australian respondants agreed that globalisation more or les equated to Americanisation. Every other country disgareed, but it was close in Korea and Israel. Indonesians most strongly disagreed.

Most people thought their countries should try to emulate America in Scientific and Technological innovation and economic opportunities for people. Many, but not a majority, thought American standards of freedom of expression and also democratic institutions should be seen as a guide. Smaller amounts wanted to copy American military power, and only 18% American popular culture. 7% of respondants didn't want to emulate anything.

In every country except Australia, Korea and especially France, a majority people supported following the American economic model. 92% of Americans thought other countries wanted to follow their model.

Most Americans also thought people wanted to copy their standards on freedom of expression, and the majority of respondants in Israel, the UK and Indonesia agreed. Russia and particularly France disagreed strongly, whilst Canada, Australia, Brazil and Korea also disagreed.

Only 6% of French respondants wanted to copy the US democratic model. A third of Australians felt the same way, as did 29% of Koreans and 27% of both Indonesians and Russians. Only Jordan and Israel saw a majority of people supporting the view, although 71% of Americans thought other people wanted to follow their lead.

4/5 Americans thought other countries wanted their level of military power, but only in Jordan did a majority feel that way. France, Korea and Australia were least likely to want that level of military power.

61% of Americans thought other people wanted to emulate their pop culture, but less then a quarter of respondants in every country agreed. Israel, Brazil, the UK and Canada provided the highest numbers in favour, whilst France and Russian ver much did not want to emulate american pop culture.

There's still one area, Military, to come. I'll post that this afternoon; I have to go into the city for a few hours.

Military:

A series of questions were asked following this format: "Who is more dangerous, America or ________". The results:

America or North Korea:

Jordanians considered America far, far more dangerous, and Indonesia and Russia agree. Brazil also considered the US to be more dangerous, as did South Korea. The US considered itself to be far less dangerous, and Israel agreed. Australia and the UK also supported this view, but not as strongly, as did Canada and France.

America or China (People's Republic):

Again, Jordan and Indonesia considered America far more dangerous. Korea gave the US it's 3rd-highest 'more dangerous' score. Russia, Brazil and France also thought the US was more dangerous, but Canada, Australia and the UK disagreed. Israel also disagreed, more strongly then the others, whilst the US thought of itself as significantly less dangerous.

America or Russia:

Every country though America was more dangerous except itself and Israel. Jordan and Russia gave the highest results for American dangerousness.

America or Al Qaeda:

Jordan and Indonesia considered America more dangerous, particularly Jordan. Brazil agreed, and whilst borderline, Korea didn't, by 1%. Russia, Canada and Australia considered Al Qaeda more dangerous, as did the UK and Israel by wider margin. One thing it seems the French and Americans culd agree on was that Al Qaeda was very much more dangerous then America.

America or France:

But their agreement didn't last long. France considered America uber dangerous, at least by comparison. Jordan, Russia and Indonesia also gave the US high numbers. Korea, Brazil and Canada were more reserved, but also considered the US more dangerous, as did the UK and Australia by smaller margins. 32% of Americans considered themselves more dangerous, and 29% of Israelis thought the same way.

America or Iran:

Jordan and Indonesia considered the US far more dangerous. Russia, Korea and Brazil agreed. France, Canada, Australia and the UK thought Iran was more dangerous, as did the US and Israel by wider margins.

America or Syria:

America thumped Syria in the badass catergory for Jordan, Russia, Korea and Brazil. France and Canada also saw the US as more dangerous. Australia narrowly gave Syria the nod, and the UK did the same for America. Israel and the USA also considered Syria more dangerous.

The last question was: "Does America's superior military power make the world a safer place?"

The US obviously responded with an overwhelming yes. Israel also firmly supported the Americans. Australia, Canada and the UK agreed, more modestly. Many French respondants said it made no difference, but a plurality said it made the world a more dangerous place. Korea overwhelmingly went for more dangerous, and Indonesia, Brazil, Russia and Jordan agreed.
