There are plenty of examples of people changing there minds about what their opinion will be in the future. People say they "definitely won't vote for" a candidate, and then their opinion of the candidate changes, and now they're willing to vote for them. Or you have lots of people saying that they will support impeaching Bill Clinton if evidence comes out indicating that he lied about his affair with Lewinsky. Then that evidence comes out, and they're still not in favor of impeachment. Or the people who said that they wouldn't support the war in Iraq without UN authorization, and then the war starts without UN authorization, and a majority are still in favor of it.
People are very bad at predicting what their opinions will be in the future. I always thought the "will definitely vote for / against" question was one of the dumber poll questions in use.
