! ! !

I've just finished the semi-final singing part

My picks to go through:

07-Belgium
14-Turkey
23-Iceland
04-Andorra
13-Russia
16-Finland (Rock, hallelujah Tongue)
11-Macedonia
20-Sweden
22-Bosnia-Herezegovina
06-Albania
--------------------
19-Portugal
15-Ukraine
08-Ireland
17-Netherlands
03-Slovenia
02-Bulgaria
01-Armenia
21-Estonia
12-Poland
10-Monaco
05-Belarus
09-Cyprus
18-Lithuania

Iceland is total crap but I love it. Belgium is absolute pop, but a very good song. Je t'adore.

Voting is up next Smiley

RUSSIA (one of my top 10)
MACEDONIA (one of my top 10)
BOSNIA-HEREZEGOVINA (one of my top 10)
LITHUANIA (bullpoo)
FINLAND (one of my top 10)
UKRAINE (myeh)
IRELAND (quit stopping my faves)
SWEDEN (one of my top 10)

where's Belgium and Turkey? Iceland? Andorra?

argh...last two...

TURKEY (phew...one of my top 10)

please be Belgium...

last spot...

ARMENIA

BAH!

BAAAH!

sobsobsob

so my 2nd, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th made it throuigh, as did my 15th, 16th, 20th and 23rd. Lithuania really peeves me...how the bloody hell could it go through but not Belgium? Bah.

I'll still watch the final, if only to see the Aussie win for Germany.

It's all rigged anyway Tongue

I don't watch the "singing" part, but I do always watch the counting of the votes. I always find the patterns greatly amusing... Grin

I saw them on tv not too long ago (I think one of my house guests had on MTV or VH1).  They were quite entertaining, though I don't think I understood a single word they sung . . . and I think it was suppose to be in English too.  *laughs*

A recent innovation running for the past 3 years or so. The 'big' nations (Germany, Britain, France) have automatic placing in the final (due to the fact that they largely fund it). It was introduced because the demand to enter has grown substantially.

The semi-finalists will be those countries who didn't qualify for the previous years final or those who finished poorly. The top 10 semi-finalists get into the final.

Indeed Cheesy finland *never* win Tongue

I'm not surprised france finished so poorly; no matter how good their song is they always do.

A pitty about France, the song was good but the singer wasn't - and Denmark finished 18th and has to qualify next year (I voted for the Finns, by the way - but the Bosnian song moved me the most)

THeir song was sheer brilliancy.

You guys vote in that? I'll admit to having watched it a couple of times (and of course, the only reason to watch the first part is so you have someone to root for in the votes-coming-in part) - but vote yourself? Amazing.

My favourite was the German entry, in part because the singer was born in Australia. I also really liked Belgium's and i'm VERY dissapointed it didn't even make the final.

Hugh, how could you have liked the Iceland song? It actually made me feel sick, it was like one of the worse freak-shows I've ever seen. It's an interesting symptom that one song (Iceland's) was a tribute to, wait for it, the singer herself, and another, Lithuania, a ridiculous pep song for themselves. I don't get how you could like that either, anyone could have written it.

First time ever I voted - and only because the Finnish song was so funny. (I had a "working at home"-weekend and needed some true entertainment that didn't demanded brainpower)

The Icelandic song was a comedic act performed by an actress. It was mocking Eurovision and the type of singer who performs in it, and it did it well.
