Gee, good thing to know that the Democrats are keeping their power keg dry for the year 2472, when they will no longer exist.  Of course Alito showed that this current Senate is completely hopeless.

Vote was 78-15-7.

If the Democrats had half of a spine vertebrea, they might have a shot at taking back Congress.

He was one of only 13 to vote against Condi. At least for this one, there would have been more no votes if everyone had been there, since I'm sure at least Boxer would have voted no.

Mr. Magic bullet is nowhere as liberal as many who voted AYE. Although he was the sole party line breaker on one Senate vote to provide more health care or armour or something for the troops.  The other 54 Republicans all hate America.

Who is Hayden? (Since I don't suppose we're talking of our poster Carl Hayden...)

I assume it's the NSA wiretapping thing, in which Hayden played an important role.

There's also a lot concerned about a military officer leading the CIA.

Why? Almost have the directors have been military or ex military.

It is no surprise that jfern would oppose Hayden -indeed, he would oppose anyone appointed by President Bush no matter what his qualifications are.

Fascists like you must have missed the NSA spying scandal. I was nowhere as opposed to the nomination of Colin Powell, even though he's still a bastard (involved with My Lai cover up).

NSA spy "scandal"?  It's only a "scandal" to 20% of the country.  The same 20% who like to throw around the term "fascist".

God, it must suck to live in the People's Republic of California.

It is a scandal only to those members of Congress (for reasons of separation of powers), and the far right and left who would stymie our every attempt to protect this country in the name of protecting our civil liberties until another 9/11 occurs.

For the American people as a whole, this 'scandal' you speak of is hardly worthy of the name.

I'm no jfern, but even I'd be increasingly minded to oppose Bush's nominees given my total lack of confidence in the man making the nomination rather than on the qualifications of the nominee

What I'm saying any confidence in Hayden as Director of the CIA can't outweigh my lack of confidence in Bush as President and Commander-in-Chief. That's about the top and bottom of it and nothing to do with the NSA-wiretapping

So . . . if you lack confidence in Bush, you would be more inclined to oppose his picks . . . even if it ends up meaning that a position wouldn't be filled for a few years until the next president is elected?

I'm on the right and I'm not against what the NSA did.
