Not by percentage margin.

Willaim Weld is a left-wing nut case from Taxacussets.

Are you basing this on any facts, or just the fact that he's from MA?

Jfern summed it up pretty well.

Well, as another poster noted, the margin for Gore was greater in Massachusetts in 2004 (27.40%) than in New York (24.98%).

Weld is an oligarch who believes that inasmuch as he was born wealthy that entitles him to rule over the rest of us.

Also, please note that he is proud that he appointed the Justice of the Massachusetts Supreme Court that wrote the opinion that legislated 'gay marriage.'

I don't think you comprehend this is New York not a socially conservative state.  You may not  like Weld, but Faso is way out in right field here, way way out there.  % wise they may do about the same, but Faso will  do much worse in  suburban NYC, which means major state Senate GOp danger.  And bye to ever being relevent if the state GOP insist on moving right socially.  So whille your happy that the GOP looks like they will nominate Faso, so I am happy also because their pure right wing lunacy 7 stupidity will give the suburban NYC area the  GOP needs to do well in to survive in NY (Long Island 7 Westchetser) to the Dems for good.

That should go down well with the party of George Bush.

No he doesn't.

First, he believes that those born wealthy should rule over the rest of us (I guess that is what you call "equality.")

Second, the "freedom" he believes in is the "freeedom" of the government to run roughshod over the people.

To me, "vox populi, vox dei" in political matters.  To Weld, the wealthy have the "freedom" to order everyone else around.

Spitzer and Weld are practically clones of one another anyway.

Neither have any respect for the sanctity of marriage.  Throw Bloomberg into that category as well.

Give New Yorkers a REAL choice, like Faso, instead of Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum.

NOTHING is forever in politics.  The tide goes out and the tide comes in, for ALL parties.

I'm frankly surprised that someone from Rhode Island doesn't understand what kind of Republicans live in New York.

There are other Republicans in the northeast, including New York, other than "Rockefeller Republicans."

More moderate to liberal Republicanism no doubt predominates in the northeast, as opposed to more conservative Republicanism, but, if New York Republicans want to nominate Faso for Governor, that is the right of the New York Republican Party.

The only point I am making is that Faso offers a clear alternative to Spitzer, Weld doesn't.

Neither Faso nor Weld, however, would win the general against Spitzer.

Yes, I agree, Weld would do better than Faso in the general, but it is up to the New York Republican Party members to choose who they want to nominate.

Nominate a candidate, then get behind them.

While I agree we need more WalterMittys, we need fewer, far fewer, activist judges who do not seem to understrand the difference between the law and their own personal opinions and prejudices.

Marriage is not a freedom and equality issue.  Never was.  Never will be.
