Latest polls:

30/06/2006  InterVIEW/NSS

Coalition:

CDA 24.4% - 38 seats (- 6 seats)
VVD 18.9% - 29 seats (+ 1 seat)
D66   3.1% -   4 seats  (- 2 seats)

Opposition:

PvdA 28.1% - 44 seats (+2)   ---  PvdA has been losing ground in the polls the last months. In March, after the local elections they had 60 seats in the polls. ----
SP     11.2% - 17 seats (+8)
LPF     0.5%  -  0  seats (-8)
GroenL 6.4% - 10 seats (+2)
ChristenU 3.5% - 5 seats (+2)
SGP    1.6% -   2 seats (+0)
PvdV  1.2%  -   1 seat (PvdV = Freedom Party from former VVD MP Geert Wilders)
Other Parties 1.3% - 0 seats (although the Animal's Party is close to 1 seat)

Actually, a CDA/PvdA-government is anticipated. A return of the CDA/VVD government is also possible, though a bit more unlikely.

Former Prime Minister (and former UN High Commissioner for Refugees) Ruud Lubbers (CDA) will examine the next few days what is the best option. The most likely is that CDA and VVD will form a minority government (Balkenende-III) with support from LPF and SGP, with as primary goal to get the budget for 2007 through parliament. Early elections are expected for November. Regular elections were scheduled for 15 May 2007.
