Of course I vote no, but it seems to me that supporters of the flag burning amendment seem to think it is. They're so concerned with a symbol rather than the pressing issues of today. They seem to think that one is causing harm to the United States by burning the flag.

"Sacred?"  I would call it that.  It is, however, to be honored and respected.  So I vote yes.

As far as "the pressing issues of today," the amendemnt proposal (or should I say the latest proposal) was submitted on both sides of the house back in the beginning of 2005, so all this talk about election year politics and not dealing with important issues is just a bunch of hot air.

The concept of anything being "sacred" is completely and inarguably subjective, so this poll question is useless.

The flag is merely a piece of cloth - what the flag symbolizes should be considered sacred, not the flag. We shouldn't get attatched to the mere object that is the flag.

I'd have to say no, but it symbolizes this country, so it shouldn't be treated lightly.  Anybody who is an Amer. citizen and burns the flag or mistreats it, is mistreating the symbol of Amer. in really deserves no respect in my mind.

Absolutely not. Its a flag. Nothing more. And it symbolizes both good and bad things, so I wouldnt go any farther than to call my relationship with it neutral. Its just a flag.

To those who answered yes: is the flag of any other country sacred?

National flags are symbols of sovereignty and therefore should be respected, even if we are at war with that nation.

Not sacred, of course, but quite offensive.

Not in and of itself, though what it represents is.

Of course, banning its descecration would be, I feel, an affront to what it stands for and represents, loathsome as that activity may be.
