So is there anyone here who would like to see a local(in the same part of the state) politician advance further in politics?

For myself, I'd say Darryl Issa he's one of the main reasons we had a recall out here(praise the lord) and you could tell he wanted to run for governor but wanted his party to advance rather then being greedy and taking votes from people who had a better chance.

Its that kind of selflessness that I hope is rewarded in the future.

(and sorry if this is the wrong place for this didn't really know where to put it)

Jane Brooks - Republican from Dundalk, Maryland.  I dont support her or anything. I just feel bad for the lady.  Shes on the ballot every god damn election, running for a different position, but she never wins.  I sorta' feel bad for her.

i cant say that i hold any local politicians in high esteem.  most are just inept yokels.

the nc state legislature just plain sucks.  maybe that is the reason why the state is so backwards.

My State Senator John Hottinger would be great for a higher position and I know he has ambitions. He actually did run for the House before and probably will once Gutknecht retires, I can also see him possibly ending up as the Dem nominee for Lt. Gov. or something in 2006.

Local pol I want to see rise: Brendan Boyle.  I know I've talked him up before, but he and his brother have went through hell and back to get elected to a PA House Seat with virtually NO party support or money.  The dedication they shown is beyond comprehension for someone roughly my age.  Despite the fact he's anti-choice, he brings a lot of fresh ideas to the table and I agree with him on about 90% of issues.

Local pol I'd like to see fall flat on his face:  John Perzel, Speaker of the PA House.  Severely overrated scumbag that had to gerrymander his district to save his ass in 2004 because in 2000 an unknown shopkeeper in a wheelchair named Mark Chilutti came within 100 votes of toppling him.  If the gerrymander wasn't bad enough he used taxpayer funds via "public service announcements" to promote his sorry ass on cable.  I must also note he had about $2 million to his 2004 opponent Tim Kearney's $30,000.  If that wasn't bad enough he used his goons to take down Kearney signs and sent out lit showing Kearney with Stalin, Castro, and Lenin.  Reason he keeps getting elected - He brings home the bacon!

Here's some local politicians I'd like to see fall flat on their faces: Joe Fischer, Katie Stine (not to be confused with Kathy Stein), and probably a few others.

Lloyd Rogers already fell flat on his face. Man, that guy's political career is over.

None really.  Both the state senators representing parts of my town are Democrats but not nearly important enough to move up any further.  The state rep is a Republican who almost was defeated in november.  I hope she is voted out next time.

I think West Branch Mayor  Sandra Hatfeild needs to run for State Represenative in 20076.

Davenport's only Libertarian Councilman, Bill Lynn, needs to run for Mayor of Davenport in 2005 and then perhaps Governor.

My mayor is incompetent and has no chance for higher office. My County Commisioners are more incompetent and worthless.  My State Rep may run for Senate after my State Senator retires either in '06 or '10.  None of my reps are particularly good.

I would actually see that as a downgrade (remember that O'Brien in Judiciary Chair) but I'd vote for him if there was an O'Brien-O'Neill primary. (O'Brien would crush O'Neill, by the way.)

I think Denny has other plans...

If going for Stack or Schwartz is what you're thinking then dream on!

Once again, I don't know why you associate me with what people say on the other political message boards. I know that's what you're getting at. I know you think I am posting all those messages. I am not.

I never had that in mind. He wouldn't run for either of those two offices but if he did, he could beat Stack and O'Brien vs. Schwartz would be a tough one.

I'd like to see State Rep. Deborah Ross and State Sen. Ellie Kinnaird advance further, but both are too far left to get elected to any of N.C.'s congressional districts.
