Progressivism: 65
Socialism: 12.5
Tenderness: 28.125

Your test scores indicate that you are a tough-minded progressive; this is the political profile one might associate with a jaded materialist. It appears that you are distrustful towards religion, and have a balanced attitude towards humanity in general.

Your attitudes towards economics appear laissez-faire capitalist, and combined with your social attitudes this creates the picture of someone who would generally be described as a libertarian.

To round out the picture you appear to be, political preference aside, a sensible radical centrist with several strong convictions.

WTF does that last sentence mean? Huh

WTF does that last sentence mean? Huh

I would assume it means somebody who is pragmatic and wants to get at the roots of what appears to be wrong with society, yet does not neatly fit into traditional descriptions of either the left or right. Libertarians, mutualists, syndicalists, Christian socialists, fascists, and a few other groups may sometimes be challenging to place on a one-dimensional political spectrum. The sentence is very awkwardly worded though and I am not sure whether the results apply very well. You'd be in a much better position to make that judgement. xD

Political Values

Progressivism   97.5
Socialism   100
Tenderness   56.25

Your test scores indicate that you are an open-minded ultra-progressive; this is the political profile one might associate with a university professor. It appears that you are skeptical towards religion, and have a generally optimistic attitude towards humanity in general.

Your attitudes towards economics appear communist, and combined with your social attitudes this creates the picture of someone who would generally be described as a humanist.

To round out the picture you appear to be, political preference aside, a sensible radical egalitarian with a firmly established worldview.

Progressivism   27.5
Socialism   81.25
Tenderness   53.125

Your test scores indicate that you are an open-minded conservative; this is the political profile one might associate with a field hockey coach. It appears that you are accepting of religion, and have a generally optimistic attitude towards humanity in general.

Your attitudes towards economics appear socialist, and combined with your social attitudes this creates the picture of someone who would generally be described as a social democrat.

To round out the picture you appear to be, political preference aside, a considerate principled centrist with many strong convictions.

This concludes our analysis; we hope you found your results accurate, useful, and interesting.

Looking over this now, field hockey coach!? I wonder where they got that from.

An interesting quiz from the guy who brought us The Campaign Trail - Which President are you most similar to?

http://www.americanhistoryusa.com/personality-quiz/us-presidents/

I got Benjamin Harrison, with additional similarities to John Adams and Woodrow Wilson. Least similar was Van Buren.

Most Similar: Harry Truman

Harry Truman largely grew up in rural and small-town Missouri. His family struggled financially. He was well-read but had a very rural-tinged accent, outlook, and demeanor. He also had a famously hot temper. He wasn't the most outgoing of people, yet he was affable and very loyal to old friends. He was an early riser and worked very hard throughout his life. Truman understood people very well, forming an immediate distrust of the Soviet Union and Joseph Stalin after World War II and acting accordingly. Truman had a definite taste for whiskey, but not to the extent that it affected his work. He also tended to place people from Missouri in high positions, and some of them abused this trust.

Similar: Barack Obama

Barack Obama was born to a middle-class mother in Hawaii, but grew up without knowing his father. He moved a couple of times as a child. He is known as having introspective traits and has written multiple books on his own life and the American political system. Socially he is adept but not extremely outgoing. He is also very deliberate and slow to express anger or discomfort, and known for trying to seek consensus in his interactions. In fact, one criticism has been that he is overly trusting of others' intentions. Compared to his previous Democratic predecessor, Obama seems to have avoided personal or ethical lapses in his judgment.

Similar: Dwight Eisenhower

Dwight Eisenhower spent most of his childhood in Kansas, living in comfortable but modest circumstances. Having spent most of his life in the military, he was regimented, organized, and hard-working. He possessed great capacity for strategic thought when it came to matters of the military and world politics. He was fairly outgoing and got along with most people. Yet he wasn't blind to the faults of others. He was well-adjusted mentally, to the point that some people found him boring. Independent of his time as President, his leadership in World War II makes him one of the great heroes of the United States and western Europe.

Least Similar: Richard Nixon

Richard Nixon grew up in near poverty in rural California, laboring in a strict household. He disliked social occasions and could often be quite awkward, even in small groups. Nor did he go out of his way to please people. He was shrewd rather than bookish. He was a fantastic poker player and political strategist. Yet he was also prone to distrust and outright paranoia. It was unusual for him to forgive or overlook those who had slighted him in some way. His presidency is obviously noteworthy for the Watergate scandal it produced. He wrote extensively on foreign policy in his later life.

Most similar: Benjamin Harrison was born to an Ohio family of comfortable means. He was descended from a signer of the Declaration of Independence by the same name, and was the grandson of William Henry Harrison. Harrison was famously reserved and even icy. He lacked close friends and demanded much of his contemporaries. However, he was widely respected for his intelligence and general knowledge of the world. He was a remarkably stable man, avoiding rash decisions or emotional swings, even if he was not particularly warm to others. He avoided major scandal throughout his time in office.

Also Similar to: George Washington was born into the landed gentry of colonial Virginia. Though not an extreme intellectual, he was well read and open to all manner of ideas and philosophies. He was generally a quiet man, keeping his own council, and was not terribly concerned about appearing agreeable to others. Where others made jokes to lighten the mood, Washington was solemn. He was extremely organized and had an outstanding work ethic. He also had a remarkable sense of calm and was rarely out of sorts emotionally. He was almost universally deemed a great man by his peers.

Also Similar to: James Madison was born into a family of comfortable means in Virginia. He was an intellectually brilliant man, instrumental and the writing and passage of the U.S. Constitution. He was intensely interested in the philosophical questions of political power and theory. He was quiet, yet forceful in his opinions. He was willing to consider all sides of an issue before making a decision, and was sometimes accused of indecisiveness. What Madison lacked in public charisma, he made up for with an intense work ethic and behind the scenes consensus building. He also was not attached to any major scandals in his time.

Least similar: Warren G. Harding was born to a family of comfortable means in rural Ohio. His salient characteristic was his affability. He made friends quite easily and was always ready for a good time. He was not an intellectual. For someone who became President, he was remarkably prone to cronyism and often lacked the work ethic for the job. This famously led to the Teapot Dome scandal. He was a notorious carouser and a womanizer. He also had psychological demons, having suffered a nervous breakdown at the age of 24. His body never underwent an autopsy after his sudden death in San Francisco, while still President.

He was a remarkably stable man, avoiding rash decisions or emotional swings, even if he was not particularly warm to others. He avoided major scandal throughout his time in office.

Similar: John Tyler was born to a planter family in Virginia. He was fairly reserved, yet polite and charming in his social interactions. However, he was only really comfortable around members of the upper-class -- he lacked the life experience to mingle with the common man. Though he was good with social niceties, Tyler was not afraid to inspire disapproval. Thus, he could often seem aloof and lacked for close friends. Both during and after his Presidency, he was a hard worker, turning his attention to his Virginia farm during his later life. Tyler was never known as a big picture, intellectual theorist.

Similar: George H.W. Bush was the son of a Senator and grew up in Connecticut. In many ways he had a very moderate, temperate personality. He was neither particularly loud or quiet. Neither particularly friendly or aloof. He did have a strong sense of duty, joining the Navy on his 18th birthday during World War II. Although he could be a bit emotional at times, he was very stable on the average. He was intelligent but in a practical sort of way. His first great successes in life were in the oil business. No real scandals emerged during his four year term in office.

Least Similar: Franklin Pierce was born to a family of comfortable means in New Hampshire. He was confident and outspoken, yet sometimes a bit too eager for the approval of others. He was a heavy drinker for most of his life, eventually dying of cirrhosis. His family life was also marred by tragedy. As President he tried to administer efficiently, dividing appointments amongst numerous competing factions of Democrats. Besides his drinking, there were few hints of ethical impropriety. Pierce was well-traveled, but rather myopic and narrow in his worldview. In spite of his New England roots, he consistently blamed northern abolitionists for the start of the Civil War.

Your match is -- Franklin D. Roosevelt

Franklin D. Roosevelt was born to a wealthy family in New York. Throughout life he was rarely anything if not impeccably well-dressed. He was persuasive and agreeable. He also could be a bit of a shapeshifter, particularly in his personal encounters. More than one person left a conversation believing that Roosevelt agreed with them, only to discover the opposite later in time. His working pace was fairly relaxed for a President. He had a warm and affable quality in his personal interactions that many remembered fondly. He tended to focus on the big-picture of things, rather than the details.

You are also similar to George H.W. Bush.

You are also similar to John F. Kennedy.
John F. Kennedy grew up in a very wealthy Massachusetts family. He had a broad mind and was particularly well-studied in political science and foreign relations. He read and traveled widely as a youth, including to places like Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union. He was very charming when he wanted to be, but also had a reserved side to him. In general he seemed to be emotionally stable and conscientious, and rarely lost his temper. In World War II he displayed genuine heroism and resolve after his PT-boat was destroyed in the Pacific. He was a serial adulterer but seems to have been a fairly clean politician. He is the only President to have won a Pulitzer Prize.

Andrew Jackson was born into a dirt-poor family on the fringe of North Carolina. Throughout his life he had a gritty, worldly personality and a famously irascible temper. He cared little for getting along with most people and was involved in multiple duels as a young man. He was fairly outgoing and could hold his own at social gatherings. He promoted personal favorites to high positions in government and ignored his Cabinet in favor of advice from friends. Yet he was ever-suspicious of America's "elites", and was paranoid when it came to his political enemies. He ignored rules and regulations entirely when it served his purposes.

Your match is James A. Garfield.

James A. Garfield was raised in poverty in rural Ohio after his father died. Yet he overcame this upbringing to become a remarkably lettered man. He was able to write in Latin with one hand and ancient Greek with the other, both at the same time. He was quiet and modest, yet very agreeable. He was the type of man to hug friends when he ran into them, or to touch people's shoulders as he talked. He also had a bit of a neurotic streak, suffering periods of depression. He also saw foreboding visions in his dreams. Strangely, given these traits, he actually was assassinated.

You are also similar to Abraham Lincoln and Barack Obama.

It's been awhile since I've updated my Political Matrix score, and from these new scores it looks like I slightly moved to the left on both economic and social issues.

Economic: -8.45 (Previous score: -7.16)
Social: -3.74 (Previous score: -2.87)

You have inspired me to retake it as well.  I scored

Economic score: +0.77
Social score: -7.3

It looks like I drifted to the left a bit as well.  There's a way to change it on the little identifying panel to the left.  I think you have to do it from the "atlas options" menu and and link it from this one.  I'm too lazy to do it since it hasn't really changed much.
