Conservative/Progressive score: 4
You are a social moderate. You think the progressive movement is overall well meaning, but sometimes it goes too far. On issues like abortion and affirmative action, you see the negatives of both extremes on the issue. You probably value religion, but at the same time you think it should still stay separate from the government

Capitalist Purist/Social Capitalist score: 8
You are a Moderate Capitalist. You support an economy that is by and large a free market, but has public programs to help people who can't help themselves or need a little help. Pretty much you believe in the American economy how it currently is.

Libertarian/Authoritarian score: 0
You are libertarian. You think that the government is making way too many unnecessary laws that are taking away our innate rights. You believe that the government's job is primarily to protect people from harming other people, but after that they should mind their own business, and if we give the government too much power in controlling our lives, it can lead to fascism.

Pacifist/Militarist score: 2
You're a Pacifist. You are angered that the United States thinks it should dominate the world through its military force. You think that the only time war is necessary is when we are in direct danger of being attacked. You also believe the US spends way too much of its money on defense, as we can practically cut it in half and still easily defend ourselves, and use that money to fix all our economic problems.

Overall, you would most likely fit into the category of Moderate

This test sucked. It pegged me as being socially conservative & economically socialist, which is as far from the truth as it gets. It only got it right in pegging me as a hardcore libertarian (& even then, I'm not nearly as extreme as the test thinks I am).

YOUR SCORE

Your scored -0.5 on Moral Order and -4.5 on Moral Rules.

The following categories best match your score (multiple responses are possible):

System: Liberalism
Ideology: Capital Democratism
Party: Democratic Party
Presidents: Richard Nixon
04' Election: Michael Badnarik
08' Election: Ron Paul

Of the 475,031 respondents (5,454 on Facebook):

3% are close to you.
12% are more conservative.
7% are more liberal.
52% are more socialist.
28% are more authoritarian.

I like how it simultaneously suggested the Democratic Party & Richard Nixon. Considering how close to the border I landed, suggesting a party makes no sense anyway.

I actually thought those represented most of the mainstream positions fairly well. Personally I found the answers for 11 and 17 to be pretty weak though.

My bad, I actually meant 11 when I said 20. I also found the choices for 9 to be pretty weak.

You got 98 points.

Looky here, we've got a Center-Right person. You're most likely a Christian who's displeased at the lack of moral fiber in today's society, right? Even though you are constantly berated by the media, your policies likely are the best for a strong America. For fun, here are where some other major political figures would score (out of 144): George W. Bush: 94 John Kerry: 58 Ralph Nader: 12 Howard Dean: 34 Colin Powell: 82 Joe Lieberman: 70 John Edwards: 52 Harold Browne: 90 Michael Savage: 108 Me: 104

Evidently the quizmaker has no concept of libertarianism.

Your Issue Profile: 32% Obama, 68% McCain

When it gets down to it, you tend to best match John McCain.
But he's not the perfect candidate for you, and you may not be sold on him yet.

Obama shares a good number of your views too, so you might want to give him a second look.
It all comes down to which issues matter to you the most.

Should You Vote for Obama or McCain?

Many of the questions had two pretty bad choices though.

Considering how I opposed universal healthcare for all Americans, repealing the tax cuts, government mandated global warming policies, and the US having direct talks with Iran, while supporting the current Iraq strategy, privatizing Social Security, school vouchers, free trade, and offshore drilling, I can't understand why I support Obama 100% of the time. I did agree with him on abortion, stem cell research, withdrawing the troops in Iraq, and not banning same sex marriage.

Clearly your computer is trying to send you a message. Wink

Enterpriser
Based on your answers to the questionnaire, you most closely resemble survey respondents within the Enterpriser typology group. This does not mean that you necessarily fit every group characteristic or agree with the group on all issues.

Enterprisers represent 9 percent of the American public, and 10 percent of registered voters.

Basic Description
As in previous studies conducted in 1987, 1994 and 1999, this extremely partisan Republican group’s politics are driven by a belief in the free enterprise system and social values that reflect a conservative agenda. Enterprisers are also the strongest backers of an assertive foreign policy, which includes nearly unanimous support for the war in Iraq and strong support for such anti-terrorism efforts as the Patriot Act.

Defining Values
Assertive on foreign policy and patriotic; anti-regulation and pro-business; very little support for government help to the poor; strong belief that individuals are responsible for their own well being. Conservative on social issues such as gay marriage, but not much more religious than the nation as a whole. Very satisfied with personal financial situation.

Who They Are
Predominantly white (91%), male (76%) and financially well-off (62% have household incomes of at least $50,000, compared with 40% nationwide). Nearly half (46%) have a college degree, and 77% are married. Nearly a quarter (23%) are themselves military veterans. Only 10% are under age 30.

Lifestyle Notes
59% report having a gun in their homes; 53% trade stocks and bonds in the stock market, and 30% are small business owners – all of which are the highest percentages among typology groups. 48% attend church weekly; 36% attend bible study or prayer group meetings.

2004 Election
Bush 92%, Kerry 1%. Bush’s most reliable supporters (just 4% of Enterprisers did not vote)

Party ID
81% Republican, 18% Independent/No Preference, 1% Democrat (98% Rep/LeanRep)

Media Use
Enterprisers follow news about government and politics more closely than any other group, and exhibit the most knowledge about world affairs. The Fox News Channel is their primary source of news (46% cite it as a main source) followed by newspapers (42%) radio (31%) and the internet (26%).

Pretty good, though the overwhelming majority of people I know in this category are pro-gay rights.

The best political quiz that I know is that of On The Issues (the quiz is here: http://www.ontheissues.org/quizeng/XPolitics/start.asp)

The test rates me as a hard core conservative.

For some reason that test considers me to be a free-market-leaning moderate.

Libertarian
97% Liberal, 78% Capitalist, 73% Radical

You scored in the top ten percent for Legal Equality. This would probably make you a Libertarian. You just want to be left alone by the state in terms of everyday choices and probably believe in a wall between Church and State. You scored above 50 percent in the Capitalism rating. I have no way of knowing how high you scored, but at the very minimum you believe in fairly free movement of capital, and if you get very high you may believe in trickle down economics is the savior of any and all economics. You scored in the Republican area of the radical line. You probably hate racism but don't necessarily believe in Affirmative Action. Equality, but not at all costs may be applicable. You're a mainstream Libertarian. You're all for capitalism, and equality under the law but you're not sure the state has the right to force social equality.

Facepalm at the bolded section. Hardly any of the questions have anything to do with supply-side economics & I answered none of them even considering it.

Individual vs Social
"The individualist believes that society works best through a focus on individual rights, freedoms, actions and responsibilities. The social thinker believes that the ideal state should focus more upon collective action and take a social approach to rights and responsibilities."

Individual  Social

You scored 38 out of 100 on a scale of Individual vs Social. This means that politically you are less likely to value the need for group actions and group benefit over individual enterprise and benefit.

18% of test takers were more individual than you.
81% of test takers were more social than you.

Theist vs Materialist
"The materialist believes that all objective criteria to influence politics can be reasonably derived without recourse to the divine or the spiritual. The theist believes that spiritual beliefs are important and should influence government policy."

Theist  Materialist

You scored 94 out of 100 on a scale of Theist vs Materialist. This means that politically you are more likely to believe that religion and spirituality are superstitions that should not inform political debate.

97% of test takers were more theist than you.
2% of test takers were more materialist than you.

Big Government vs Small Government
"The big government advocate believes that governments should be responsible for regulating a wide array of social practices, even what might be considered personal decisions such as abortion, euthanasia, children's education and births. A small government advocate thinks that, wherever possible, these issues should be up to individuals or companies to direct."

Big Gov  Small Gov

You scored 93 out of 100 on a scale of Big Government vs Small Government. This means that politically you are more likely to believe that government should keep out of legislating social policies, leaving such decisions to individuals.

97% of test takers were more big government than you.
2% of test takers were more small government than you.

Nationalist vs Internationalist
"The nationalist believes in the sovereign rule of nation states, particularly his or her own. The internationalist believes that there should be more important international fora and perhaps, ultimately, international government."

National  International

You scored 94 out of 100 on a scale of Nationalist vs Internationalist. This means that politically you are more likely to favour international bodies over national ones.

99% of test takers were more nationalist than you.
1% of test takers were more internationalist than you.

Protectionist vs Free Trader
"The protectionist believes in barriers against free trade most probably due to a belief that this is in his or her country's interests. The free trader rejects such notions, believing that the system ultimately suffers when tariffs, subsidies and other obstacles to free trade persist."

Protection  Free-Trade

You scored 93 out of 100 on a scale of Protectionist vs Free Trader. This means that politically you are more likely to favour free trade over protectionist policies.

93% of test takers were more protectionist than you.
6% of test takers were more pro free trade than you.

Absolutist vs Non-Absolutist
"The absolutist believes that either a divine presence or scientific laws provide absolute truths about the world, which can and should be applied in practise. The non-absolutist may be either a relativist, or simply someone who is more pragmatic."

Absolute  Non-Absolute

You scored 65 out of 100 on a scale of Absolutist vs Non Absolutist. This means that politically you are less likely to believe that there is an absolute truth that may guide your ideological beliefs.

79% of test takers were more absolutist than you.
19% of test takers were more non-absolutist than you.

Controlled Market vs Liberal Market
"Both of these categories assume a capitalist system. Assuming this system, the controlled market believer holds that government should intervene in regulating a nation's economy: wage laws, environmental standards, privatised industries and workplace relations policy. A liberal market thinker believes that such regulation is unnecessary and often counter-productive."

Controlled  Liberal

You scored 91 out of 100 on a scale of Controlled Market vs Liberal Market. This means that politically you are less likely to believe that there is need for government regulation of industry.

95% of test takers were more controlled market thinkers than you.
4% of test takers were more liberal market thinkers than you.

Marxist vs Non-Marxist
"This scale purports to show to what extent you follow the thought and teachings of Marx. Marxists tend to be scientific, materialist and revolutionary, believe in class struggle and the laws of historical and dialectic materialism."

Marxist  Non-Marxist

You scored 63 out of 100 on a scale of Marxist vs Non-Marxist. This means that politically you are less likely to follow the philosophies of Marx.

84% of test takers were more Marxist than you.
14% of test takers were more non-Marxist than you.

Your Score

You scored the following on the PoliticsMatch questions:
Personal Score  70%
Economic Score  85%

Where You Fit In

Where your Personal score meets your Economic score on the grid below is your political philosophy.  Based on the above score, you are a Hard-Core Libertarian .

Top 10
1. Lindsey Graham (R-SC)
2. James Inhofe (R-OK)
3. Don Nickles (R-OK)
4. Trent Lott (R-MS)
5. Mitch McConnell (R-KY)
6. Larry Craig (R-ID)
7. Chuck Grassley (R-IA)
8. Jim Bunning (R-KY)
9. Mary Landrieu (D-LA)
10. Wayne Allard (R-CO)

Bottom 10
1. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK)
2. Joe Biden (D-DE)
3. Tom Harkin (D-IA)
4. Jeff Bingaman (D-NM)
5. Ben Nelson (D-NE)
6. Carl Levin (D-MI)
7. Daniel Akaka (D-HI)
8. Paul Wellstone (D-MN)
9. Jon Corzine (D-NJ)
10. Jean Carnahan (D-MO)

A pattern emerged with the Senators where I agreed with the arch-conservatives 25% on social issues & 60-70% on economic issues while I agreed with the arch-liberals 40-50% on social issues & about 4% on economic ones. LOL Lisa Murkowski, though.
