The government, quite frankly, is too big, and you’re happy to trumpet this belief from the rooftops. It spends too much, it regulates too much, it gets embroiled in foreign affairs that it has no business getting involved with, and it constantly passes laws that simply attempt to make itself larger. How many of the country’s problems can simply be attributed to rampant bureaucracy and governmental excess? Downsize Big Government and return control to the people and you’ve got a solid foundation for prosperity and success.

Highest ranking dimension: Small Government
You believe in a government that keeps order but otherwise stays out of the way. You may have felt that what the country really needs is a government with the courage to take on some of the "sacred cows" of government spending. This may be because you have been irked by how much you pay in taxes. It may also be because you feel that excessive government support programs reward those with no initiative. Others may disagree with you because they see some people as having the system stacked against them. When politicians of your type make mistakes it is because they find it difficult to maintain the "tough love" approach when their friends and supporters ask for help.

Second highest ranking dimension: Individualist
You believe in the right of an individual to "be themself" in thought and deeds. You may have felt that what the country really needs is a politician with the nerve to tell people when it comes to controlling others, they should mind their own business. This may be because you enjoy a diversity of experiences and don ’t get offended easily. It may also be because you’ve seen people be persecuted. Others may disagree with you because they feel a right to protect what they see as community values. When politicians of your type make mistakes it is often because they underestimate people’s need for sta bility and safety.

Combined statement:
Based on your answers, you would prefer a state for pioneers, innovators and rugged individualism.

Radical-Conservative: 30
Liberal-Populist: 30
Capitalist-Socialist: 24

Republican Libertarian Free-Marketeer

Republican - This includes a large bulk of modern-day American politicians, whether Republican or Democratic.  This includes values of basic racial equality but not necessarily affirmative action.  It's a strong rejection of racism and a strong embrace of democracy, but not into the social levelling or hyper-secularism of the democrat level.

Libertarian - Many people in the US Libertarian Party are minor heretics or simply adhere to certain social controls while remaining otherwise nearly anarchical.  These people, in addition to a number of especially independent Democrats and Republicans, fit into the libertarian category.  They do not seek the philosophical uber-consistency of the anarchists, but they propose most or nearly all of the same ideas and policies.  Someone in the ACLU or the Republican Liberty Caucus would likely fall here.

Free Marketeer - Accepting that the market is the fairest and most effective device for setting wages and prices, those in this category support freer trade, deregulation, privatization, market reforms, tax cuts and economic liberalization.  This category includes Reagan and most Republicans, tax cutters, free traders, and those seeking to shrink governemnt and encourage commerce and business.  They associate economic success with much less government interference, low inflation, easy access to trade and business creation, and wealth creation.

Center-North Libertarian
You are moderately libertarian - where 'north' indicates a test position that's neither left nor right but upwards. You believe most of the same things as mainstream libertarians, but not as stridently, not as radically. You think that libertarian policy will come from pragmatic arguments and incrementalism. Some Republicans/Democrats, some Libertarians. (100%)

Mainstream Libertarian
You basically adhere to the platform of the LP, decry both social and economic tyranny, oppose most wars flat out, want to eliminate NAFTA but enact free trade, and want the constitution strictly enforced. You favor a doctrinaire, philosophical approach to libertarian politics. Libertarians. (86%)

Neolibertarian
The government is very misguided or just stupid in enacting too many laws and regulations that negatively affect our lives. You favor repealing these laws but in a reform-minded manner. Overall, the Libertarians are too doctrinaire and need to focus on arguments people acare about. Further, NAFTA and the WTO are useful, and the Libertarians absolutely must have an aggressive foreign policy. Isolationism is a failed track, it's important to fight a vigorous war on terror, possibly including the war in Iraq, to defend liberty. Republicans, Republican Liberty Caucus, some Libertarians, many independents. (86%)

Left-Libertarian
The government is a huge threat to social liberty, but on economics it must intervene to redistribute land equitably and end the reign of corporations. You oppose almost all wars and probably desire a very doctrinaire political style based on rhetoric. Greens, Democratic Freedom Caucus, some Libertarians. (71%)

Anarchocapitalist
The state is corrupt, a vile creature that exploits everyone for the sake of an elite. Eliminate the state and you will solve the problem. Anti-war, anti-NAFTA, very doctrinaire. Some Libertarians. (59%)

Paleolibertarian
The government is largely run by Yankee liberals that think they know best for everybody, they want to take away guns, nationalize industry, bash the Confederacy, take away religion, and declare lots of wars to expand the state. NAFTA and WTO are corrupt but unregulated free trade is good. Extreme and doctrinaire politics usually best. LewRockwell.com, Constitution Party, Republicans, some Libertarians. (48%)

Right-Libertarian
The government is run by socialists and fools who are depriving us of private property and gun rights while protecting minor and sometimes inappropriate freedoms elsewhere. You emphasize economic freedom and assume that social freedom will take care of itself. You are mixed on foreign wars, pro-free trade, and want doctrinaire campaign strategy. Constitution Party, Republican Liberty Caucus, some Libertarians. (33%)

Non-Libertarian
Liberty does not outweigh the other interests of the state or the group. Democrats, Republicans, Greens, others. (0%)

You are a Fiscal Libertarian!
Political Label: Fiscal Libertarian
Primary Ideology: Libertarian
Party Affiliation: Leans Republican
You are a solid libertarian who believes in the free market system and views government interference as likely causing more harm than good. You also prefer a smaller government that minds its own business and lets people run their lives the way they think is best.

You tend to side more with Republicans than Democrats although you are not a big fan of either party and find yourself agreeing with parts of both parties.

People like you: Ron Paul, Clint Eastwood, Tom Selleck

You Are a Liberal Republican

When you tell people that you're Republican, they rarely believe you.
That's because you're socially liberal - and likely pro-choice and pro-gay rights.
You're also not so afraid of big government, as long as it benefits people and not politicians.
You are the most likely of any Republican type to swing over to the Democrat side sometimes.

While I do consider myself a fan of small government, I'm not quite what you would call paranoid, so that's kind of accurate. I will still never be a fan of Nelson Rockefeller.
