dirt on Webb

I probably shouldn't be posting this, but I heard from a 100% accurate source that Webb has some personal issues from the past that will come out at some point, and probably hurt him a little. After all, Virginia is still a relatively conservative state... marital issues won't help him since he already has a tough hill to climb.

I figured I could mention it here since no one would actually believe it, but then when it comes out I can brag about it a little. Though maybe I would have to be more specific first, which I'm a tad wary to do. Suffice it to say the last name of the source is "Webb."

I'm just creating this thread now so I can point to it later.

I don't even think its that walter...

Its the fact that theres an anti-republican factor nationwide, and VA has moved a little bit to the dems.

ha. If I had sources in Florida my now infamous prediction wouldn't have happened. As it is, Webb has family in my area of Virginia. Soon to be former area, since I'm moving to Arlington for law school and probably will be up there for a long while.

Of course, it's a given.  Any veteran who is a Democrat running on an antiwar platform in a Republican state would be a fool to assume they wouldn't do everything in their power to smear him to ensure the GOP retains power at all costs.  Webb still has time to define himself before Allen's cronies like AuH2O do it for him, but this allegation (whatever it is) should be viewed as a reminder that he better do it soon.  This should also be seen as an opportunity for Webb to lend credibility to claims that he will not take personal attacks on his character and/or patriotism meekly the way John Kerry did two years ago.

it is just my perception, my little populist friend.

ive also noted that it appears to me that george allen probably took remedial reading in the 3rd grade.

I don't know if there is any dirt on Webb or not, but I think his own behavior is going to sink him anyway; he's been recently lashing out at Allen in a frankly juvenile fashion.

I've had enough of these sort of comments, Walter.  Could you honestly stop referring to people who aren't 100% gung-ho free traders as "silly little populists"?  OK, we don't agree economically.  Deal with it.  But I at least treat you with respect.  For a while I considered you a one of the most respectable Republicans on this forum.  But I find these comments demeaning.  Every time you mention a Democrat who's supports some protective restrictions on trade, you ridicule them.  I've never done anything to piss you off, so I don't see why you constantly need to insult my economic views.

It's a shame that in the great state of Virginia with a number of decent politicans, neither party can find a good candidate.

Allen is a dumbass who thinks that because he is rich, famous and has a decent smile that he actually is a good politican.

Webb doesn't really strike me as anything special and a bit of a media whore.

Don't forget the excessive amount of football analogies he uses (His dad was one of the greatest coaches the Redskins ever had).  They're tolerable for the first 50 times, but it can get irritating after a while.

I'm sorry, but could you elaborate on exactly why you think Jim Webb is such a terrible candidate?  Why do you think he would be a bad choice for Virginians?  I don't think calling him a "silly populist" and leaving it at that is much of an argument.

I know what it is but didn't post it. Who knows, I could get flak if some VA Democrat saw it and tried to figure out who had leaked it.

I wouldn't be too sure about that yet.  If the Allen campaign didn't take him seriously, why would they have started airing commercials already?  It's kinda early to start running television spots.  I've been working in Webb's Northern Virginia campaign headquarters.  Webb still has a fighting chance, and if he continues to conduct a strong grassroots effort in the Northern Virginia, Richmond, the Shenandoah Valley, and the Hampton Roads area, he should be able to make this race very close.
