They're not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but they're better than the psychopathic Tamil Tigers, who have managed to turn both the Budddhists and the Muslims on Sri Lanka against them, and have probably killed as many Tamils themselves in their purity drives than the geovernment has. Also, the government is a democracy, albeit a little rough, while the Tigers have run a totalitarian regime in areas they control.
