Mondale. At least he got 13 electoral votes when he ran; Landon only managed 8. Mondale also, unlike Landon, at least managed to get over 40 percent of the popular vote.

But then again, Landon performed so poorly because he was running against the universally loved FDR, Mondale sucked just because he was, well, Mondale.

I would just like to remind the forum that Landon was 100 years old when he died, and being 97 in 1984, he would NOT have lived out his term. Mondale would've, thus Mondale gets my vote.

97? Thats a bit much for the American people. They wouldnt have taken the chance, and wouldve really questioned his competence.
