Currently 16 candidates remain as we go into round 3. Here are the new brackets:

BRACKET A

Winfield
Captain Vlad

Cosmo Kramer
Kashifakhan

BRACKET B

Bacon King
Colin Wixted

Josh22
WMS

BRACKET C

Shilly
FezzyFestoon

Boris78
Akno21

BRACKET D

Bullmoose
MasterJedi

Dave Hawk
Ilikeverin

The top electoral vote getters in each bracket, one Republican and one Democrat, will advance to Round 3. While the EV totals from Round 2 do not count in Round 3 they, along with the Round 3 totals, will be added with a candidates Round 4 total to determine the top three Democrats and Republicans.

Bacon King will be running Brackets A and C of the Tournament and Colin Wixted will be running brackets B and D as before.

Hey, now the following post really doesn't have to do with this thread, but I fugure I'll ask it anyway.

What's a good strategy for Prsident Forever bewcause when I first started I wasn't bad (I got Reagan to get 350 which isn't amamzing, but I had just started) Recently, Reagan lost for me Sad.  I couldn't carry Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, or New York and was obliterated in the South. Cry

What should I do to make my candidates do better?

Oh ya and if you do another one of these, I'd love to be included Smiley.

Well the 1980 scenario that comes with P4E is horribly flawed. It gives too much of an advantage to Carter and makes Reagan do much worse than he actually did in 1980. The same is also true of 1972, where there have been times when I've actually lost as Nixon through no fault of my own. My suggestion is if you want to play any historically elections go to 80soft.com and then go to the updates and scenarios page and download some third party scenarios for P4E which I have found to actually be better than the ones made be the 80soft programers, probably because they are Canadian and what do they know about American politics. Tongue

As for strategy there is always the run all the ads that you have in ever state on the last day of the election. This is a well known strategy/cheat that allows you to get some huge momentum on the last day.

My major suggestion is to keep making ads and run as many as you can to keep up your momentum. Spin every scandel you can on the opposing candidate, or candidates, and don't barnstorm in the last week of the election just continually make speeches.

You'll get a hang of it over time. What's even trickier though is Prime Minister Forever. That's impossible. Wink

Also, make your strongest issues your campaign themes (whenever possible do it when they have a high or very high profile). It also helps if your research them  because this adds to the power of your ads and increases the probability of them being successful (it comes in handy for your speeches too). For attack ads, chose the issues where your opponent is most vulnerable (even better if they are part of your theme - your themes can be taliored to either sell you or attack your opponent). Endorsements can help too

Of course, when it comes to running ads be selective. They can backfire and don't run them in states where your opponent is more favored on that particular issue

All stats are located there- you can make the candidates with the Candidate Editor that comes with the game.

Remember to select the correct VP, too, when starting the match-up.

Have economy, spies, fog of war on, and dynamism off. regionalism is off for the first set of games, but on for the second.

Nader is turned off, and you play as Badnarik and do no campaigning at all.

Be sure to double check the results, and include percentages when making the map. When posting, remember to include EV, PV, and PV percentage.

And a tip: making the maps quickly becomes arduous; I reccomend memorizing the 2004 results and only change the Electoral Calculator when you spot a difference between the 2004 results and the results in the game. decreases my workload by half.

You can go ahead and do Bracket A, if you'd like. Thanks for helping Smiley

I may do Bracket B tomorrow actually. I feel like getting this back into swing.

To JCar: Just play as Badnarik with Nader off and just hold down spacebar until the election is over. Spacebar ends the turn without you having to continually press down the end turn button.

I find holding down the spacebar speeds the game up. But that might not be a new discovery.

I would suggest you also give popular vote percentages along with vote totals and EV totals.

Oh, sorry, I didn't think that was necessary.  You could always do the math to figure it out if you wanted.

The end of the non-regionalism rounds...

Adam Martin (Captain Vlad)-334/64,232,381 (51%)
Kashif Khan (kashifsakhan)-204/58,758,716 (47%)

Arizona was decided by 9,000 votes and New Mexico by 2,000, but Vlad won both.
