Atlasian-Fiji Free Trade Bill


1. No tariffs, customs, or restrictions on movement of goods, except those that have been outlawed by the destination or interim nation, shall exist between the Republic of Atlasia and Fiji.
2. The President and other officers of the Atlasian Government shall take such actions as may be necessary to implement the provisions of this bill.

I have to agree with my predecessor. That and the fact that the Ministry of Fijian Affairs has exasperated the problem by propogating up the old chief system and failing to heal the racial split within society. There is also a significant corruption problem involving the covert manipulation of money and funds that plagues the government and the administrators of various native 'trust lands.' I think concerns should be raised, and while I lean towards supporting it there is plenty of scope, in my opinion, for amendments.

Fiji is a imports a solid proportion of manufactured goods from Atlasia.  This could be beneficial to both countries without any detriment to Atlasian industry.  As of now, I would support this bill.

I have taken the Secretary of State's comments on board and I'll liase with him on a possible amendment

In seeking to address the valid concerns raised by the Secretary of State and the Mideast Governor, I, hereby, propose the following amendment:

3. Given ethnic tensions that exist between the Fijian and Indo-Fijian communities and military coups, both achieved and attempted, against democratically elected governments, it is a requirement of this Agreement that Fiji be committed to improving ethnic relations between the two communities by making towards becoming a fully functioning liberal democracy, with respect for political freedoms and civil rights. This shall be monitored by the Secretary of State. In the event of any further ethnic violence or military coups that may erupt that may threaten the political and economic stability of Fiji, and, thus, our mutual interests, then he may temporarily suspend the terms of, and/or request that the Senate revoke this Act in its entirety.

As long as Fiji doesn't breach the above then free trade will be intact between Atlasia and Fiji to our mutual beneft . It's only right that we act with caution
