Senator Lautenberg has said that Lieberman will not run as an Independent if he loses by more than ten points in the primary.

Less than what I suggested last night.  I think Lieberman stated he would run as an Independent because if he lost he thought it would be close.  With the recent wave of polling it looks like Lamont will have a rather comfortable victory on his hands.   If Lamont does win by double digits & Lieberman doesn't run as an Independent Lamont's #'s will be close to what Clinton & Kennedy put up.  Schelsinger' might even be a worse candidate than the GOP debacle  of Faso/ Spencer & McFarland in New York

My prediction will be Lamont 53, Lieberman 47. Lieberman runs as an independent and wins by 5 points.

A shot in the dark, admittedly.

Here's something interesting (taken from Drudge):

Lieberman's campaign website is down today and has been down for a little while.

Hmm.  Probably removing all mentions of the word 'Democratic'.

that would be my guess...maybe a revamp of the color scheme. If he planned to standdown after the loss, they'd just prepare some sort of concessionary/thank you page

Lamont 55-45. Lieberman's closing the margin, but too little, too late.

I still think Lieberman holds a slight advantage in the general also. Assuming that he gets most of the GOP vote, the independent vote, and slightly less than half of the Democratic vote, he should be able to win.

Yes, I'm not as liberal as I appear at first  Wink

I just got back from the polls. Turnout was low compared to November general elections, but above-average for an August primary (as expected).

There were the expected snafus where people showed up thinking they were registered when they officially weren't. Other people went to the wrong town to vote, and were annoyed that they had to drive somewhere else.

One guy was a registered Republican but said he really wanted to vote today. I felt bad when we had to turn him away, we have such strict laws here!

Lamont 52.5-47.5%

I have a bad feeling that Lieberman will pull it out, but I'm sticking with The Dream.

I predict Lamont 50-49. Lieberman manages to gain some sympathy by his last minute desperate claims about his website that he is too inept to run.

I have changed my prediction from a 56%-44% Lamont victory to a 52%-48% Lamont victory. If this primary had been held on the 15th, Lieberman would have won.

Me too, Lieberman is milking the fact that his "strong on security" ass couldn't secure a webserver for all its worth. If someone other than Lieberman took down the site, they should have realized that this would really help Lieberman.

I am actually tuning my prediction down to 53-47 Lamont, but in primaries like this predictions are hard to make.

I'm sorry but does anyone really care about that? Anyone who votes either way based on that needs their head checked out.

So you don't care how secure you are? You support Lamont so I guess you don't, if he had his way Iraq would be destroyed by terrorists and the US would be in more danger than it is now.
