In October, 2002, Harry Belafonte made the following statement about Colin Powell on Larry King Live:

"There are those slaves who lived on the plantation, and there are those slaves who lived in the house.  You got the privilege of living in the house if you served the master.  Colin Powell was permitted to come into the house of the master."

Two years later, in October, 2004, Harry Belafonte campaigns for Colin Powell for President, telling the nation what a great President Powell would make.

Belafonte's remarks on Larry King Live and his now embracing the Powell candidacy are seen as hypocritical by many voters, costing Powell the state of Ohio by 6,874 votes.

As a consequence, the electoral vote is tied, and the new House of Representatives, controlled by Republicans elects George W Bush as President, and the new Senate, also controlled by Republicans, elects Dick Cheney Vice President.

Bush/Cheney                269 EV 50% PV
Powell/Warner              269 EV 49% PV
Other                                0 EV   1% PV

Democrats denounce Belafonte as a washed up has been, and refuse to buy any more of his music.

Republicans, on the other hand, pronounce Belafonte as one of the greatest recording artists of all time, and sales of Belafonte's music rises dramtically in white, affluent, suburbs.

Powell wins, but this would never happen.

I wouldn't go that far. Sad to say but alot of the white population would not vote for colin powell because he is black. I think it would be more like a 2000 map, but with NH, NV, VA, AZ, FL all voting for Colin.
