NO! Another reason to stay away from the south. I didn't realize how rampant they were there.

Yes. Part of North Wales (the Lleyn Peninsula) was (due to local referendums) dry on a Sunday until the Major Government gerrymandered the local authority boundaries to stop this from being the case. And the Lleyn is a lovely area.

Dry on Sundays isn't the same as totally dry, which certain counties and towns in the south are. See the thread in US General.

I wouldn't eliminate them from the list based on this.

I would not eliminate it as a possibility just because of this (it doesn't affect me too much), but I can't imagine there are dry places where I'd want to live anyway.

I do know that, which is why I specifically mentioned the bit about Sunday's.
I don't drink a lot anyway, so it'd be of no concern to me.

Probably not, but not necessarily because they are dry; there would be many other reasons I wouldn't want to live in them.

Not unless it was absolutely necessary.  If it was, hopefully I would be near the county line to a wet county.

While I'm not that big of a drinker and have somewhat of a disdain for alcohol, I would never live in a dry city, county, or country.

While being dry of alcohol isn't that significant, it symbolizes the extremnity that this county hates the freedom of the individual.

Yes, and we've already had this thread.

well according to the list someone posted, i was born and reared in a 'dry' county.

but im a little confused as to the meaning of the word dry.  the county i was raised in was/is dry according to the list.  while i cannot remember any liquor stores in that county.  i certainly remember the grocery stores selling beer and wine.

Not to belittle anyone's interest in alcohol, but it really isn't all that important to me, so yeah, I could live there.

If the grocery stores sold beer and wine, you certainly didn't live in Pennsylvania.

I drink hardly at all, but I would never live in such a place if I had any choice about it.  Of course poors living in such places do not have a choice.
