bump, would be interested in seeing other states if you can

It is also interesting to note counties that have been the strongest swing toward one party one election and toward the opposite party next election.

County, which candidate it favors:

Ontonagon, MI 2000 Bush
Gogebic, MI 1984 Mondale
Kent, MI 1976 Ford
Wayne, MI 1964 Goldwater
Crawford, MI 1964 LBJ
Lincoln, WA 1964 Goldwater
Menominee, WI 1992 Bush
Douglas, WI 1984 Mondale
Hunterdon, NJ 1968 Nixon
Lake, MN 1984 Mondale
Stearns, MN 1960 JFK
Athens, OH 1972 McGovern
Belmont, OH 1968 Humphrey
Holmes, OH 1964 LBJ
Owen, IN 1976 Carter
Monroe, IN 1972 McGovern (also largest swing in 1968 for HHH)
DeKalb, IL 1972 McGovern
Tyler, WV 1996 Clinton (also largest swing in 1992 for Clinton)
Lewis, WV 1984 Reagan
Ohio, WV 1976 Ford
Owsley, KY 1996 Clinton
Clay, KY 1972 McGovern
St. Louis City, MO 1976 Ford
Reynolds, MO 1960 Nixon
Trinity, CA 1960 JFK
Philadelphia, PA 1964 Goldwater

Some are obvious - Kent, MI - Grand Rapids Ford's home; Stearns, MN - St. Cloud Catholics; Monroe, IN and Athens, OH are univ. towns, I guess McGovern did comparatively well there after voting age lowered.

Any explanations for the others?
