That sounds like bad news for Granholm.  That poor woman can't win!

If anything, the initiative may help Granholm by driving up black turnout in Detroit, even if the referendum ultimately passes, which I believe it will.

Hopefully affirmative action will be struck down in Michigan.  It is a program that has long outlived its original purpose.

This will drive up voter turnout in Detroit which is most definitly good news for Granholm.
Affirmative action has to end, however.

To me, this sounds like a "gay marriage" referendum to increase turnout for Republicans.  From what I hear from you guys, it sounds like a gamble.

Why?  It hurts people like ME.--If a black kid isn't smart enough to get into college, why the heck should he?  Bill Cosby even agrees w/ me on this--blacks put themselves in the positions they are (sometimes) in, so it is their own job and duty to get themselves out, not the government.

The "hurt middle-class white kid" argument is not the one I'd go for, if it was me. Tongue
