Is there a timeframe for someone to change his mind just to open a slot on the senate floor?

They have all seven days I believe.  It won't pass, everyone knows that, so why wait seven days to figure it out?  It'd be nice if those senators on the aye side would change to abstain.

I can't see it happening.  Hizbollah is a terrorist organisation which targets Israeli citizens; while Israel is democratic nation-state, which has the right to defend itself

Reports suggest that Hizbollah wouldn't have even kidnapped the two Israeli soldiers if they thought it would have led to war. Pity they never thought about that beforehand but what can you expect. They wouldn't know reason if it kicked them in the arse. Meanwhile, parts of the Lebanon have, sadly, paid the price for Hizbollah's folly in a) kidnapping the two soldiers and b) launching rocket attacks at Haifa. Lebanon has reaped what Hizbollah sow, disgusting Sad

The Lebanese government itself too can't go without criticism. Why? For allowing Hizbollah to flourish as a state within a state, that's why

I make no apologies for defending a democratic nation state against a terrorist organisation that actively pursues its destruction

The use of "too" makes it sound like you also support criticizing the Israeli government, when you clearly did not, and the lack of any criticism for Israel is why 5 Senators have continually voted against this resolution, as well as why if this resolution had any chance of passing I would veto it.

Indeed, I haven't criticised the Israeli government, nor am I likely too. I offer total support to our long-standing ally in the Middle East in the face of terrorist aggression. They did not begin this conflict, Hizbollah did. And until, just previously, the Lebanese government had escaped any criticism

So Lebanon as a democratic nation-state has no right to sovereignity and protection against severe air strikes?

The reason its government let it floruish earlier was because it was only a puppet government really headed by Hezbollah supporting Syria.  By the time it transitioned to a real democratic government, it was too late.

Yes, the Lebanon is a democratic nation-state and does indeed have a right to sovereignty. What infringes such sovereignty is that Hizbollah is effectively operating as a state within a state. Hizbollah committed an act of aggression that provoked Israel into targetting their strongholds in Lebanon, it was an act of self-defense

I'm horrified that the non-Hizbollah Lebanese rallied behind Hizbollah when, at the end of the day, it was their actions, which led to the conflict with Israel, a  consequence of which was the destruction of much infrastructure and loss of life. They should be feeling nothing but revulsion for these heinous terrorists. I'm not certain democracy can be attained as long as Hizbollah continues to operate as a state within a state

Damn it, where the hell is Q?  I'm sick of this endless discussion on this topic.  This resolution needs to be passed, the sooner, the better.

The funny thing is that I don't think Q would have supported Israel going without reprimand for its attacks on civilians.
