Exactly - the issue with Bush isn't that he's dense (which he is - frankly Intelligence is a big thing for me... and to go from a Rhodes Scholar to Bush is frankly quite sad) - the issue is as John Ford correctly said if he doesn't know about something he doesn't seem interested in learning about it.

Even if you don't have the most robust intellect - a healthy curiosity should be able to get you through. Bush doesn't even have that.

Ummm, Bush had a HIGHER average at Yale than Kerry, but a disgraceful like 76 to 74, but Bush's was two points higher.  It's his accent that makes northerner elistist liberals think he is stupid, he actually is quite smart.

Did I say he was academically smarter than Kerry? Clinton trounces both of them. It's not his accent that makes people think he's stupid... it was what he does which shows people he's stupid.

Please show me besides his apparently stellar knowledge of baseball statistics (things he REALLY cares about) any evidence that Bush is smart.

Lets see...he's leader of the free world..and you're what? Some random poster on some non-descript political board.

Bush has proven that lack of intelligence is not a hinderance to getting elected - in fact he's shown that by using ridiculous generalizations and perpetuating this down-home hokum bulls**t that somehow makes him a regular guy. Which of course is nonsense.

Firstly StatesRights - you have absolutely no idea who I am - plus as I expected you were unable to give me one scrap of evidence that shows him to be smart - so you retorted with adolescent childish insults... good for you. At least Tredrick gave some suggestions all though Bush was being tied up until 9/11 and knee-jerk patriotism somehow gave the Congress cold feet about exercising their most basic and important fucntion.

But I will agree with you on one point. The Debates in 2000 were when Gore let the election slip through his fingers. Bush's camp had lowered the expectations of him SO MUCH that for Bush to be considered the winner - all he had to do was turn up and not screw up - plus Gore didn't help himself. So - he wins by the politics of low-expectations.

That was an insult??? lol Roll Eyes

I'm sure you're capable of much more cutting remarks - but I was curious what you could offer of proof of his intelligence and you offered a popularity contest - a big one - but not one that relies on intelligence.

The White House varies by Administration - under Clinton and Bush I the President was very much tied in with the appointments and acted often on his experience and knowledge. Under Reagan and Bush II the White House is decentralised. With the President largely as a rubber stamp and spokesperson - for the work of people like Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, Rove (until a little while ago).

Look at his grades at yale. That is enough evidence of his intelligence. How many forum members here do YOU think could get into Yale?

Well, I grant you that - but it's called legacy admission. How many people without the connections that EITHER Bush or Kerry had would have gotten into Yale with a High School C+?

I know - I was considering going to college in the US and took the SATs and had my Australian high school grades translated.
