You think Randy Graf can win the general? The folks at the NRCC don't think so and they've been winning House elections since 1994. Tom Davis turned the NRCC into the lean, mean fighting machine it is today.

He sensed the vulnerablity of David Midge and Sam Gejdenson back in 2000 and he beat the Democrats in opens seats in 2000 and 2002.

He left the NRCC with a legacy of winning. If they don't think Graf will win, Iit's hard to disagree with them. Wink

Based on my knowledge of the CD and of the "creationist-supporting" Graf, I would place AZ-08 with Graf as nominee at #3 on the Dem pickup list, ahead of PA-06 and behind only TX-22 and IA-01.

Exactly.

What do you get when you place a political neanderthal in a swing district? A lost GOP House seat.

Arizona 8th called it at 9:21. They deserve some serious props.

Given that PG County, Mont Co and B-more City are all about 50% in, I'd say that Cardin ends up winning this thing by about 15,000 votes, give or take a few thousand.

Probably.  Like I said earlier, Mfume surges when Baltimore comes in, but Cardin chops him back down with results come in from MoCo.

Oh well, in many ways this race is widen open in the general.  Race is now on the table and will be a major issue.  Will Mfume supporters get out and support Cardin or will they stay home?  Take it one step further, will they be pissed enough to vote for Steele?  The dem bosses wrote Mfume off before he even announced and his people know that.  He ran an INCREDIBLE campaign for being outspent 20 to 1.  Talk about grassroots.

They're going to turn out for Cardin and even if they don't, there is no way a significant amount go for Steele. The black vote, while important, will not be as much as a deal as the white vote and Cardin will look great with your typical white Dems (as if you don't already know). Cardin wins in November.

Cardin will win the race, and I doubt that many Mfume supporters are going to back Steele.  Steele will do a little better with the African american vote than a typical republican would, but not that  much better.  he is just too conservative to wn the % of the African American vote he needs to win.  While in Primaries thy might at times, in the General African American voters put idealogy well ahead of race, and Steele is just WAy too conservative.  If he was more moderate than we could have a real tight race on our hands, but Steele is too conservative toget the level of African American support he wuld need to win, & too conservative to get the white support to win as well.  Afterall this is Maryland

I'm a bit disappointed that Mfume didn't win, but I have no problem with Cardin. He should dispose of Steele fairly easily. Smiley

I'm looking forward to seeing this creep go down in November.

Silly Euros use a space to seperate anything over 10,000 and use a "," to break up a % (45,2%). Wink Congrats to Cardin for saving MD Democrats the shame of a Senator Mfume.

And great news for AZ, Graf will be a great congressman.

Wynn is trailing by a handful of votes in the 4th district. Only 75% counted though.

He already won the seat? Great! We don't need to waste the money on the election then.
