I think this will play very well with Virginia's more conservative Reagan Democrats.

It should be.  A youtube window opens in the middle of the site.  Just click the play button.

Having seen it I think the ad is certainly effective.  The use of Ronald Reagan is  certainly a good idea against someone like Allen, who some claim has Reaganesque qualities.  The Democrats are very lucky to have Jim Webb as a candidate.

Nancy Reagan already sent a letter to Webb that he should pull the ad.

A very sly ad on the part of the Webb team.

If the Reagan thing backfires, this could be a big negative for him.

Good ad upon watching it. It's not an illegitimate use of Reagan's words in my opinion, but I can understand where Mrs. Reagan is coming from not wanting her husband to be used in campaigns.

However:

"Allen campaign manager Dick Wadhams said he hoped "the Webb campaign would respect the clear request of Mrs. Reagan."

But he declined to say whether Allen would remove a photo from his campaign Web site that shows Reagan and a young Allen shaking hands. It appears next to a Reagan quote.

"We do not have a television ad that is trying to convey the false impression that the late president has endorsed a candidate in this race. Only one campaign is trying to do that," Wadhams said.

Hanson [Reagan Library Official] declined to say whether the library would request that Reagan's image be taken down from Allen's Web site."

Did Nancy Reagan ever demand that all of the republicans who made ads using the words and videos of her husband stop their ads? I didn't think so. Hyopcrite.

I don't see how this could possibly backfire. Ronald Reagan was a good and close personal friend of James Webb, he has the right to use him in an ad.

I also find it hilarious that George Allen compares himself to Ronald Reagan. I think Reagan must roll over in his grave every time Allen says that.

What would be great/disrespectful was if Webb had an ad that just said

"Win this one for the Gipper!"

I have no issue with the ad, and it's good to see he has actually begun to fight for a change.

Not a great ad. If he mentioned his stuff as Assistant SecDef, that might be better.

I'm not the hugest fan (nor hugest detractor) of Reagan, but this wil hopefully help Webb out. If elected, I think he'll become one of the better senators in the nations.
