I would wonder if this country would grant escapees from dicatorial regimes political asylum? Until I see assurances that we would protect those from their opressive governments, especially if they are political criminals, then I would vote aye, until then though:

ABSTAIN.

All decisions are still placed in the hands of immigration officials.  No officials would use political crimes as a violation of this law.  I thought it was rather implied it must be a something that is a crime in Atlasia as well.

Anyways AYE.

That really makes no sense.  Which I've explained.  An immigration official who didn't admit someone of the basis of political dissent would be immediately fired under previous law and this law.

Amazing we're in the same party, isnt it? We vote together 20% of the time or something like that. Kinda funny actually.

While us three in the CDP seem to be on the same page, about 80% of the time, if not more Wink

I dunno, I tend to vote quite closely with Senator Speedy. He and I usually vote together, while I think I've voted with Senator Hawk alot as well... I'm pretty sure that party has nothing to do with how we vote.

I wish to move a further amendment, adding the following section to the bill:

Illegal immigrant workers must be paid at least the applicable minimum wage in their area. Where employers fail to do so, they shall be held liable to make up the difference between what they were paid and the applicable minimum wage in their area, backdated to the enactment of this statute.

I feel that illegal immigrants should be entitled to the legally set minimum wage, just as everyone else. The intent behind this amendment is to guarantee them this right and to allow them to recoup from their employers accordingly where this standard is not met.

This bill is to make it so illegal immigrants can't be employed and why should people who aren't supposed to be here be payed the same ammount as legal citizens?

I'm not sure whether the Senate has the authority to mandate that areas, which I interpret to mean the Regions, pay the applicable minimum wage to illegal immigrant workers just as the Senate doesn't have the power to establish a minimum wage beyond D.C. and other federal territories

You're probably right, I shall therefore withdraw that amendment.

I presume one of the major reasons to hire illegals is that you can get away with paying much lower wages. If employers knew that they would likely eventually be made pay the standard minimum wage to them, it would, I presume, act as a significant disencentive to hiring them in the first place.
