The president's done such a great job that we now only pay $2.15 a gallon for gas.

Doing a great job, George.

It's Bush fault when they are high but he had nothing to do with it when they went down. That's all that matters, of course.

You can't play that card until prices apporach what they were in the Clinton era.  It's still at least twice as expensive now as it was in 2000.

I wonder how many gasoline/petroleum fueled engines are in operation today compared to yesteryear

Point is that they still have gone down. They could go up ten cents and people whine about how it's his fault but when they come down thirty cents there is no way Bush was involved.

If gas prices drop to where they were just before the massive price hike, I'll stop holding the issue against Bush.  That'd only leave the war in Iraq, the war on terror, treatment of prisoners, and domestic spying.  I can live with that.

then I also hope that the people who said Bush had nothing to do with gas prices going up stand by that with them going down.

I'll stick with the "he never had anything to do with prices" line.

That's about right... Those prices are still obscene, though.

Gas was in the 1.80s in 2000.

Grin Bush has not much to do with the gas prices here, they were higher in the beginning of the 80s with no sign of Bush. More and more Austrians are buying cars and theres amazing traffic chaos here because 7 out of 10 people have a car, truck, bus etc. and people can afford the prices, allthough they are not low ...

Bushs' college age antics obviously have everything to do with that.

In 1997, gas was still under $1.00 in many places.  I remember my parents filling up regular unleaded for 99 cents a gallon at the local Hess station.

It was about 97 cents when I started driving in 1995. Either way gas has been steadily going up, regardless the president.

I'm pissed more at OPEC about this.  Presidents really don't have much to do with gas prices.  I mean, you could praise Reagan for lowering gas prices significantly during the 1980s, so it's like political parties have anything to do with it either.  Gas prices skyrocketed during Carter's administration.

Reagan is one of the few Presidents who can actually take credit for changing the price of oil/gas by eliminating the damn supid price controls.
